Worst Case ScenarioParticipant
Well I’m usually the first to say that you don’t need better equipment to take better pictures…… But you do at least need a camera before you can start to learn photography.
Is there another site called ” You are not a FONEOGRAPHER” ?
Worst Case ScenarioParticipantyou have all the problems mentioned above. plus your images are all to small! Most of them are not much bigger than the thumbnails. It’s going to be hard to type out all the faults, why not choose your best image and see what people think of that?
Worst Case ScenarioParticipantPlenty here in the UK!
Worst Case ScenarioParticipantYeah it’s probably inappropriate but it’s hardly worth discussing. I also saw crap posing, spot colouring and missed focus. It’s just an average faux whose found another way to shoot him self in the foot. The question should be why do people buy this rubbish?
Worst Case ScenarioParticipantIf you don’t know him well enough to say ” That sucks” then don’t!
But it’s very easy to find faults in even the best picture. Unless you pressed the shutter you can’t know that there wasn’t a 1000ft canyon on the left and a landmine on the right.
Worst Case ScenarioParticipantDamn! It’s gone already.
Worst Case ScenarioParticipantyour site looks better already!
Worst Case ScenarioParticipantThese days a one website size will not fit all! People will want to see it on their laptops, their phones, their 22″ monitor and their 42″ TV.
Worst Case ScenarioParticipantresizing and compressing are two different things.
Resizing is phyically making the image a different size. You can make images smaller no problem, but making them bigger will mean loosing quality. Compressing is the setting used in the jpeg file. When you save a file as a jpeg it will give you a slider for quality. The higher the number the better the quality, but the file size will be bigger and therefore slower to download. A smaller number will give you a smaller file size but at a reduction in quality. About 7 on the scale should give you the best of both worlds,.
Worst Case ScenarioParticipantI had a guy contact me not long ago about hiring my studio. He popped in for a chat and told me he had lots of experience but just talking to him, it became clear that he didn’t have a clue and I suggested that before hiring the studio he might like to do one of my training days, which he did. During the day it emerged that he had been told by another local faux that he should always keep his camera on manual and 1600 iso. Which he had been doing. Trouble was he had no idea what manual was, did not know anything about apertures or speeds and had been taking shots and then blindly moving the dials until he got a picture on the back of the camera that looked okay.!
He then told me that he had shot several WEDDINGS like this!
Worst Case ScenarioParticipantIt was slow but interestingly it didn’t seem too slow for me. And I live in rural UK where 2mbs is the best speed and I often get bored waiting for the main YANOF page to load.
The whole look of the site is very harsh on your eyes.
Most of your shots look overly contrasty and the colour scheme does nothing to compliment them.
Assuming everyone sees the same images on the front page, I got some okay but contrasty fashion/portraits front and centre and then a slide bar at the bottom containing several shots including a snap shot from a zoo and a picture of someones cat. Nothing shouts amateur more than a picture of your cat! So, as for adding boudoir shots, fine as long as they replace the snap shots.May 28, 2013 at 4:25 pm in reply to: Brutal feedback needed. It's time for someone other than my mom to critique me. #10174Worst Case ScenarioParticipantYou’ve got some great work, but it’s mixed in with a lot of stuff that’s only good! I’d prune down the amount of shots A LOT. I didn’t actually get to the bottom of the page because there was so many. All the shots on stage could go. There’s not much wrong with them, but your quirky stuff is so much better. You have several shots with multiple images. Keep the best one of each. Some of your portraits are brilliant and mixed in some of the shots of junk and yard sales would make a great portfolio.
Same thing goes for the blog posts. Take the best one or two and loose the rest. There’s just no need! Great work.Worst Case ScenarioParticipantAnother vote for adblocker, I wish I could get one for my TV!
Worst Case ScenarioParticipantSerious fauxtog warning. Serious overexposure problems, selective colouring, bad masking, a grey baby in a picture otherwise in colour, some kind of weird frame blur thing going on, oof shots, hideous colour temperature problems, glowing highlights and a couple of really low res images. In fact, this is a fauxtog if I ever saw one.
Yeah but you can see them in 3D! And that’s gonna make them so much better.
Worst Case ScenarioParticipantTHANK YOU Cameraclicker
Carry on…
