Worst Case ScenarioParticipant
Take a spot meter reading of the sky, and a spot meter reading of the face. In order to get the sky looking blue, both these readings need to roughly the same. You can’t make the sky darker so you have to make your subject brighter. The trick is getting a powerful enough flash gun and not making the subject look flashed / harsh / shiny.
Worst Case ScenarioParticipantI had a bride to be in my studio last week who wanted a really old fashioned looking album cover. So I dug out an old display album from the 90’s and cringed when she started looking at the images inside it. But she got to the B/W shot of a bride and groom with the bouquet in colour and said ” Oh I really love that effect”.- horses for courses!
I think the KIm Anderson shots work because firstly they are well thought out and staged shots. And secondly they only have very muted colours, making them look like they are selectively hand coloured.
Worst Case ScenarioParticipantiliketag says – Bear in mind, please, that I am not a professional, I am only offering my thoughts.
I am a professional ( but I hate that word! ) and I’m STILL only offering my thoughts.
The circus shot… In any picture your eye will be drawn to the brightest area first. In this case that’s the logo! And by the way, it’s not even a good logo! The second brightest area is the girls ass! After that you might notice the circus setting. But the main problem with the shot is that it’s taken from the wrong side. Unless it was meant as an ass shot, very few people will want to see a pic of a girls back. The face could make or break this shot.
The second shot. I kind of like but it needs more detail in the dark areas, I could see it as an album cover. But I’m not sure it works as a stand alone shot.
Worst Case ScenarioParticipantMoral questions aside… am I the only one who thinks that sticking a Superman logo on a pair of knickers is not a fusion of pin up and super hero’s? I’ve done a company calendar before ( with out any logos ) which was supposed to be based on super hero’s. But we abandoned the idea as we had run out of recognizable female hero’s by March.

Outsider opinions? #9447Worst Case ScenarioParticipantGood use of DoF in the first pic but it could use something a little more interesting as the centre on attention. The pic of your sister is great! I didn’t zoom in so the focus looked fine to me. The light painting looks cool but without being able to see the face it suffers from the same problem as the first pic.
Good technique in all the shots.
Worst Case ScenarioParticipantYeah the girl in the purple dress has the same colour face as the road in the background, but actually it’s probably the exposure screwing with the contrast that makes it long wrong.
Worst Case ScenarioParticipantNot a Fauxtog but exposure, colour and focus all need improving. just keep practicing.
Worst Case ScenarioParticipantI’ve been making a living from photography for over 30 years. BUT I never call my self a professional photography. The people who see my work should be able to tell that I know what I’m doing. From my experience the people who make a big thing of calling them selves a PROFESSIONAL are usually crap at photography but think it makes them sound better. I once bought a toothbrush that had the word Professional printed down it WTF?
As for you work, it’s pretty good and a lot better than a lot of “pros” that I’ve seen.
Worst Case ScenarioParticipantI can’t stop laughing at this! It would have been funny enough if SWEET EMOTION PHOTOS had just appeared on the front page. But to go to the bother of signing up to this site, just so you can complain that someone is using your pictures !!!!!! You really don’t have a clue about how bad your work is – and you think it’s so good that people want to claim it as their own? AMAZING!
Worst Case ScenarioParticipantI took one look at your FB page and the first thing I saw, was that you couldn’t even get your name /logo in a readable position! Unless you have changed the name to VEN photography I’d give up calling yourself a professional. I didn’t even bother scrolling down to see how bad the rest were. If you can’t even get your banner right, there’s no way you can expect people to pay you.
Worst Case ScenarioParticipantYour shots are sharp well exposed and have good colour, but the subjects are pretty dull. My favourite is the kid with the guitar ( but there seems to be a pie crust stuck on the wall over his head ) The other people shots have no meaning. Try to take images that OTHER people might want to look at! The coffee shot and the train/ night lights shot are good could sell as stock images but nothing else has any interest.
Good start but remember that the rest of the world has no idea why you took a shot so it has to have some sort of instant appeal.
Worst Case ScenarioParticipantARRRGH! Can’t figure out how to make this a link. I hope you can all see this without having to be site members,

WARNING! This is taken from a modelling website so routing around it will show pics of naked ladies!
Worst Case ScenarioParticipantDon’t quit but you could use some more practice. You have a few shots showing that need to be culled ( especially the weird HDR sort of snooker table shot ). But over all you are a lot better than many and not a faux.
Worst Case ScenarioParticipantMy favorite from the NZ fauxtog: I call this one “Get it Gurl!”
That’s classic, who’d have thought that a pole dancing woman with her legs apart could be so unatractive…
