Worst Case ScenarioParticipant
bananaslugs Subscriber http://www.likensphoto.com/
Flat lighting, pop up flash, selective coloring, and faces that are not in focus.
Not the best, but after a quick look I’d say they weren’t bad enough to be listed here.
But here’s a couple who should be…
Worst Case ScenarioParticipantOooh I haven’t put anything here for ages. Here’s one I found today
http://www.imag-ine.co.uk/neen-150214-11bw#photo
The website says they do
Commercial – but there are NO pics
Weddings – but there is only ONE pic
And TRAINING!!!!!!!
Worst Case ScenarioParticipantThe colour shot of the guy with the rifle, what’s it all about? If it’s a portrait, you can’t see his face. If it’s meant to tell a story? I have know idea what it is. It’s got a very strange focus. It may be down to the resolution of the upload, but it seems to have a weird blur about his back side? The B/W version just doesn’t work on any level.
The Blonde girl is a nice shot, but the angle doesn’t work.
The other girl has awkward poses, and her skin looks over smoothed, apart from her nose? Again, it might be the resolution.
Nothing here has any WOW factor, but they are not awful either.
Worst Case ScenarioParticipantI can’t believe I just did it, but I “Liked” you page and I’m actually looking forward to seeing what you post next.
Worst Case ScenarioParticipantNesgran has summed it up well, if you had charged someone to take these shots, you’d be guilty fauxography. But your site says you’re learning so fair do’s for asking.
You seem to have a fairly god eye for a shot, but your colour and gamma are letting you down badly. The first shot is so dark I hardly make out what it is. If you have a monitor set up for gaming or watching movies, it will be useless for judging exposure.
Worst Case ScenarioParticipantEverything that’s been mentioned above is sound advice so I’ll approach your request from a different angle and tell you what’s wrong with your site. The general design is quite professional looking, but you don’t have to dig deep into it be you start looking like a faux.
If you are selling your self as a photographer, you’re going to have to show people a wide variety of work. I know you are just starting out and it may be that you don’t have anymore images, but a website is like a shop front and you wouldn’t open a shop before you had any stock to fill it.
As soon as I clicked your link I got asked to subscribe to something so I could win something else? At that point I hadn’t seen a single image so there was no way I would give you my email address so you can add to my junk folder. Having to dismiss the window was just an annoyance. As has already been said, the banner images all need work, bad colour, bad poses, bad post. And then to find that every page has the same bad banner gives the impression that you don’t have any more pics. It doesn’t matter who’s in the shots. I take shots of my kids and my friends kids when ever I need a good display image.
The only reason you have your logo over your images is because you think it makes them look more professional. It doesn’t. It makes you look cheap. The only people who might want a copy of you images are the people who are in them. And as a pro you should have already sold all the images they want to them?
You have an “about us” page, yet it doesn’t have an image of you on it. If you can’t even get a good image of yourselves, why would anyone else pay you?
The portfolio page has the pics from one client? Are you trying to give the impression that you’ve only ever had one client? The weddings and family pages are coming soon? which just reinforces the fact that you don’t have any more images.
Worst Case ScenarioParticipantI think you are on the wrong site? I don’t see any spot colour or white vignettes! My only concern is that you STILL have to ask how you are doing????
Start charging …… A LOT !
Worst Case ScenarioParticipantAnyone else notice the spam robots are back again?
You can’t really not notice!
I volunteered as a moderator when they asked, but they never even responded : (
Worst Case ScenarioParticipantNot a snob, you just recognize a crap photo when you see one, which is more than “Katherine” can do.
Worst Case ScenarioParticipantLet’s take a look at those cosmetics as they are actually quite a good test subject, I’m guessing they were all taken on the same white background. But look how many colours of background you’ve managed to record, you’ve also managed to burn out some of the highlights.
If you’d used the same lighting and exposure on all of them you would have got a much better colour match.
Worst Case ScenarioParticipantfautox 1977 has summed it up well, the worst thing on your port is the cheesy posing – hand hearts and holding signs are so naff! Cut your image count down by 2/3’s and you should be left with a nice set of images that aren’t faux at all.
Worst Case ScenarioParticipantCC’s version has some different retouches, I’d say the one from Bangladesh is the best. I quite like the German entry , it’s definitely the most artistic.
Worst Case ScenarioParticipantIf this site was called YOU ARE NOT A MODEL, I could fill it with links.
Worst Case ScenarioParticipantShe’ll be advertising for for weddings on craiglist next week : )
Worst Case ScenarioParticipantIt’s a great shot and it must of been technically hard to capture, but I’m not sure what I’m looking at? My first impression was that it’s a bottle viewed from above whilst dropping into water, but the green background suggests that, that’s not the case. Or the water is stagnant! So my next guess is that it’s a bottle floating in front of a green background that some one has just thrown some water at?
Don’t get me wrong, I love it and wish I had taken it, it just doesn’t make sense to me. (A bit like modern art!)
