You are a fauxtographer. You don’t deserve any money at all. The problem isn’t your equipment, it’s you. Hope this helps.
dicksforeyesParticipantYes, the blonde is my ex. I’m shooting with an MKII as well, although I had a 5D classic for a while.
I tried the squinting with women and it sucked. If I ever shoot males, I’ll try it again.
dicksforeyesParticipantThese aren’t exactly what we’re talking about, but they were all done at 85mm.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/73875730@N08/6654364225/in/photostreamI do have an old 135mm FD I rebuilt with an EF mount but I never liked it. I will have to take it out again and see how it is for headshots.
dicksforeyesParticipantThat seems plausible. He definitely says 85 in the video. I only did test shots and deleted them.
dicksforeyesParticipant85mm is considered the ideal focal length for headshots by many people. Peter Hurley actually recommends shooting at 85mm as this is the approximate equivalent to his 120mm on medium format. I’ve actually done the Peter Hurley style headshots before with the 85 and the results were excellent. However, in my experience there is no ideal focal length. Everyone’s appearance is affected differently by lens compression due to the varying shapes of faces. Some people look better at 85, 100, 135, etc.
dicksforeyesParticipantI was going to say what you’ve got now is great, but you’d see a palpable improvement with the 85mm 1.8. Incredible lens for the money too.
dicksforeyesParticipantWhat camera and lens are you shooting with?
dicksforeyesParticipantYes, don’t host photos on Facebook. I can’t tell if something’s wrong with the focus or if it’s just the compression. You can actually just paste photos right into Imgur.com.
dicksforeyesParticipantIn the military we called that a “preemptive strike”.
The military can apparently rationalize just about anything with that phrase.
What was the purpose of the knucklehead posting the video loop as part of this?
Preemptive strike.
dicksforeyesParticipantThe difference between you and I is an entire biological domain. I can no more be friends with you than I can with a sack of algae.
dicksforeyesParticipantYou might want to use links that work next time: http://bit.ly/flickryanap
dicksforeyesParticipantIt’s amazing to me that you people really do believe something you could say could possibly matter. You even seem to know well enough that you are so awful you should hide your work, yet you still believe your opinions to be of consequence.
I don’t think I’m particularly good, but that doesn’t have anything to do with it.
dicksforeyesParticipantIt’s possible, I didn’t look that hard. I’m not sure what you would win though as it doesn’t really matter if it’s lens blur or motion blur.
Maybe if you guys think a little harder, perhaps work together, you could really nail me on something. Here’s a pencil and some scrap paper. Good luck.
dicksforeyesParticipantErroneous. Some browsers don’t assume sRGB if there’s no embedded profile and will use the display profile instead. This is why you should convert to sRGB and include the color profile for maximum compatibility.
dicksforeyesParticipantBefore copy/pasting I often have to “Convert to profile” and choose sRGB IEC61966-2.1 as the Destination Space.
