Thanks I figured it out in another post.
dstone81ParticipantAww she is cute. I have no critiques (seeing as I am new to this) but I just wanted to say she is adorable.
dstone81ParticipantThe main reason I am asking for critiques is one for my own personal growth and two because I am working on a project for my mom for mother’s day. I want to give her a professionally mounted collage of photos that I have taken of her grandchildren and I want to make it my best work ever. So over the next few months you guys are going to be seeing a lot more of my stuff for critiques and I am sure you guys are going to have a field day with it but I think I will come out of this a much better photographer and will learn so much from ya’ll. And for that I want to thank ya’ll in advance for ya’ll’s wealth of information. I want to give her something that she will be proud to show off in her home and when people ask she will proudly say her daughter took those photos (even though I know she would say it no matter what my photos looked like) But I want to be proud of what she is showing. KWIM. I want o learn and be proud of what I accomplish.
dstone81Participantdstone81ParticipantI totally agree with you Seth. I mean the other day when I was taking some practice shots of my daughter I actually got down in the grass with her as she was crouched down looking at bugs and snapped some photos. It was a blast. I am a hobbyist and amature and would never dream of charging anyone for my photos until I have my art down pat. And that includes SOOC and editing.
dstone81ParticipantNo worry. I apprieciate the fact that you did go into detail because it points me in the right direction on what to look out for in my photos and how to improve. This month my main focus is working on focus and next month is composition.
I have a meter on my camera too that I use, I also have the Historgram meter too. I need to work more I using them to my advantage. I just figured out the other day that my camera actualy has a focus check on it so I turned that on so I can better check my focus. I am already seeing an improvement. I used to use a fuji s700. Then I got the HS20EXR which is larger, more powerful and has many more functions and controls. It is a decent Bridge camera but is no SLR with interchangeable lenses so it is really limited on what it can do. However in the hands of a pro it can take some absolutely gorgous photos. ( I should know because I let one of my pro friends borrow it right after I got it.)
dstone81ParticipantHere is the thing as per her own/your own website it says PROFESSIONAL SERVICES. Also what this website is about is people who charge for their photography services and in truth have no business charging if they don’t even have the basic fundamentals of photography down. I am all for artistict expression, but you have to be able to execute it well if you are going to charge for it.
dstone81ParticipantI agree with ya beg. I say know what you are using so if a client asks you can confidently say this is what I use.
dstone81ParticipantHow did ya’ll get the pics to show up on here? I have tried several times to no avail from my flickr account.
dstone81ParticipantI know. Hey at least I had 2 out of 3 right. Like I said I don’t normally use editing software as I amtrying to focus on my SOOC shots first and then once I learn more with getting that down then I want to get into the editing part of it. An old friend of mine who is a pro once told me that you know you have major skill if you can take a picture straight from the camera and not have to do a lot to that picture in the post process. When I do edit I use Photo shop or lightroom. I have only used those a handful of times and that was just the trial versions.
dstone81ParticipantCorrection to my previous post I was wrong on the paintshop it is Corel who owns that. I was thinking photoshop duh. I am a dunce tonight. Don’t mind me and go back to your regularly scheduled program. 😛 Gee I feel like a doofus…. I am gonna go back to my corner now and do more research…. Opps I am so embarassed.
dstone81ParticipantBwahaha. I admit I don’t know a lot about editing, but I do know some editing software and the most prominant software used by pros is ADOBE Paintshop Pro and ADOBE Photoshop or ADOBE Lightroom. And I don’t even use any of those, and I am an amature hobbyist at best and I know the different editing software programs. I am sorry but how can you call yourself a pro and not know what programs you use. I even know that Flickr uses Aviary editing software. (which I admit I have been playing with for a few days just to expierment with.)
