This person is the epitome of Fauxtogs.

This is a local fauxtog. Most of her stuff is noisy, out of focus and has white balance issues.

ParticipantI meant to post I can’t believe anyone would pay for these.
Yeah I can’t believe someone would pay for theses. Orange baby anyone?

ParticipantI want to tell her so she doesn’t learn the hard way by getting sued because she got into something way over her head. I want her to learn the right way and perfect her art before she starts charging for her services. I talked to her today about maybe enrolling into some courses before she put herself out there claiming to be a pro. I just came on here asking for a tactful way of telling her without hurting her feelings. I don’t want to stand in her way because I think she does have potential. I want to see her succeed and I don’t want her to get a bad rep for putting out subpar product. Because once you get a bad rep for something it is kinda hard to fix it.

ParticipantGotta love this lil gem. Spot coloring, blurry pics, aged pics, poor editing and bad composition. Found them on Craigslist.

ParticipantWhat I find funny is that she just can’t seem to get that one last like so she can change the appearance of her page. (So she says.) I have seen more professional looking pages than this one with less likes on them. SMH. I agree with ya’ll. I can’t stand all of the clip art on her page. It doesn’t belong on a “professional” page.

ParticipantI am right there with you Night Rose. I don’t even let my husband use my camera let alone some stranger.

ParticipantOkay, so this IS scary, she’s got a certificate from Kennesaw State University in photography.
She’s also a step above your usual fauxtog as she’s got a tax license.
My question is if she really took the course shouldn’t she at least know the baisics and produce fairly decent work consistantly? I mean the only consistancy I see in her photos are horrendous photos.

ParticipantI am not a pro and I know I am not qualified to truely critique, but I like a lot of your photos. They have a rather unique perspective. Some I personally wouldn’t have in a professional port, but you do have great potential I think.
ETA: One thing I did see is try not to cut off at joints. Like if you are going to show a full body try not to cut off the feet. There are a few white balance issues I also noticed but that is about as far as my critiques go.

ParticipantI completely agree with you BEG. I am still learning my art and will continue to learn. I refuse to charge anyone till I can produce consistant work. Most of my work is B&W though because of my color blindness I have a hard time with seeing the subtle shades of certain colors. But in her photos I could tell right away that they were aweful. And the B&W she did with the baby’s face was absolutely the worst. Sorry but you don’t blow out the face so much that you can’t see the details in it.

ParticipantThis one is kinda bad.

Participant@Thomas- I have a Fuji Bridge camera. And while they can take some amazing shots they really are limited on what they can do. I would never dream of using it for a paid shoot, Let alone show up to a paid shoot with dead batteries. I always carry extras with me. I also make ure to check my batteries before I even leave home. I mean any SMART photographer would.

ParticipantI agree with Worst Case scenario and IHF. This is something I have really had to work on. I am getting better now that I have learned how to use my meter. I don’t do a lot of potrait work, but when I do it comes in handy knowing how to meter for situations like this and how to compensate for it.
