@Seth, are you in the US? Lol- guessing not because here it’s Thursday afternoon. I wish it were Friday though because I have off on Friday.

Yeah, I am in the US.  I might be drunk.  LOL

I should also add that I love how Shelby apparently doesn’t care what other people think but can’t resist posting to tell everyone that plus about 5 other pages of needless “info.”  Honey, you care, or you wouldn’t have commented in the first place.

Somewhere I missed all the drama that was happening on the main page there.  I do find it interesting how a 15 year old is posting as southernmomma though…  just sayin’

Plus, I never really thought of Oklahoma as the south.  Isn’t that the Great Plains or Mid-West?  Guess they don’t teach geography in Oklahoma.

I think I might have some more commentary as I read through.  Very entertaining, perfect way to spend a Friday afternoon after skipping out on work early and hiding out until the night life.

Wow, this is what happens when I leave you kids alone for a few hours?

Seriously, though, Shelby – you do have a lot to learn.  If you are unwilling to admit that, you have bigger problems than what is going on with your photography.  Not to mention, like others have said, your attitude plays a big part with business.  You cannot go around with a potty-mouth and harassing customers and expect to do well.

Furthermore, if you are 15 and truly working and earning money, you still have to pay taxes.  I certainly had to at that age at my first job!  You also need business licenses and insurance, etc.

With all that said, my pro-photo friend recently started training her little sister to assist her on shoots, she’s not much older than you.  Where did she start?  She handed her a dSLR, went over all the controls, quickly explained aperture, shutter speed, ISO, etc., and put her on manual, completely skipping any kind of auto mode.  Guess what?  That girl is already doing better than you are and she’s only assisted and shot on two shoots and a small wedding… with a kit lens.  I was especially impressed with her wedding work – the lighting conditions were terrible but she really brought it.  Shelby, head back to the basics, learn them and THEN you will do well.

Finally: just because someone critiques you does not mean they are harassing you.  This is the internet, not your living room.  There’s nothing you can do about these people here or on Facebook.  If the police can’t/won’t help in many true stalking issues online… go ahead, take this to them, they’ll laugh you right out of the precinct.

You know what, I don’t think that is nipple on the little girl, looks like a birthmark or a sore or something but the photo is completely horrible for sure.

I also have to LOL at the whole RAW thing.  Yes, discovering RAW is like OMG WHY DIDN’T I KNOW THIS BEFORE, we’ve all been there, but to act like it’s magic when you clearly don’t even understand it…    It’s not the camera genie.

    Eesh, Shelby’s bad.

    And this…

    “Eyes like a shutter,
    mind like a lense..♥”

What the heck does that even mean?  Anyone know what a “lense” is???

If your eyes are the shutter, then your glasses are the lens and the mind is the sensor and internal workings of the camera.  hahahaha

$400 wedding…  ugh…  that translates to, what, $5 an hour?  Maybe you can make it up in tips?  😛

bwahahahahaha, don’t you just love it?  Whenever someone’s so hurt and offended that their photography was pointed out, they have to try to insinuate that none of us have lives outside of the computer… as if that really hurts our feelings.  Does it really look like anyone is here commenting constantly?  Uh, no, try again.

Also, no one has to “like” your page in order to see it.  I can see it all just fine.

Honey, really, if you’ve learned a lot since then, delete the stuff that’s crap, it’s not doing anything for your portfolio except hurting it.

btw Mirror Image is pretty bad…  eep

Not to mention it’s not a mirror image if you’re photoshopping the heck out of the pics.  Adding the tans to the little girls is especially despicable.

I HATE PAGEANTS especially for little girls.  They give them a great self image.

Anyway.  So this hit the news yesterday, where I’m originally from:  https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151563754354312&set=a.115044704311.96381.110988779311&type=1&ref=nf

Apparently, they want professional photographers to get a permit to be able to take pictures in the park.  I’m gathering this is (supposedly) due to one photographer carving a wedding date into a historic barn.  I’m also gathering that the signs have come down and are “pending further review.”  Anyway, this just led me from one fauxtographer to another.  Here’s my favorite:

    https://www.facebook.com/ibatsphoto

Now, she’s not horrible but she has some really bad editing from time to time, but what makes her a fauxtographer is her comment:

I am a local photographer and I have known about this for a while now. I think its absolute crap! Our tax dollars pay for these parks. Im glad a news station finally did an investigation. I contacted you paid for it and never got a call back. This will really hurt business for me because I am in the process of getting a business license and I called STL County Parks Department and I was told you can’t even buy a permit without a license or insurance so I couldn’t even use the parks period for any shoots. I take professional grade photos of my daughter all the time so if I was at a park with her taking photos of her they could fine me or make me leave the park. Also anyone with money can buy the equipment I have and use it in a non professional way. I wish that STL County parks could define ‘professional’ People now days dont have money for expensive photographers so they have a friend with a ‘nice camera’ take their photos. Of course they are going to be better quality than a point and shoot. Will those people who do it as a hobby be fined or made to leave the parks. It really does need to be assessed. When I contacted the parks department they were very defensive and rude when I told them how I felt and asked why this is being done. I hope it doesn’t last. Its def the stupidest thing to date I have seen.Inspired By A True Story Photography

So not only does she have to pimp herself by linking herself there, but she’s a “professional” who’s business will be hurt by these signs despite the fact that she doesn’t have a business license or insurance.  Not to mention the phrase: “absolute crap” by someone who is stating they are professional.  How does someone without a business license or insurance remain not only “in the process” but have nearly 3,400 likes??  So I guess she’s been doing business illegally a long time.

Another comment, if you follow a link posted by the county or something, said, “how much money do you think photographers make? Not as much as you think! For a portrait shoot maybe 50 to 100 bucks. And the parks want to charge us 50?”

And there you have it, folks, more fauxtographers charging $50 to ruin your business.

Protection plan for the computer, though?  Really?  That just seems ridiculous to whine that look at all of this stuff I have to pay for when it’s not all necessary or not all costs are accurate.

And the Mac vs PC arguments in the comments…  ridiculous.

    Professional photography memberships… unnecessary.

    Continuing education, $2k a year… please.

$400 on memory cards every year.  Right.

Just looks like a whine fest to me.  (And what’s with all the bold, omg.)
