picarusslimParticipant
They’re very nice HDRs!! I hope I can achieve that level of natural-ness! Thanks for the input, i’ll report back with some of my efforts.
Thanks all. The bud is pretty dull eh, especially compared to what I normally like doing.
I definitely need to get a few filters, i’ve being a bit cheap on that front.
This is my landscape(ish) folder, not my strong point as previously stated and most were taken last year when I wasn’t as ‘educated’

I need to prune some out, especially fromt he street album. I’m really uncomfortable with greenery that involves trees, plants, water. I look at the recent waterfalls ones and recoil. I did enjoy the day though (and it’s twenty minutes from my house)
My flickr account is more for my project 365, which through moving house several times, many personal stresses and more recently a pregnant girlfriend has suffered some serious quality control!
picarusslimParticipantand there is no Z in organisation!!
Was the movie called Frantic?
I’m from Yorkshire, UK (Scarborough) and I have a hard enough time understanding southerners let alone Americans! 😉
I’m the same, my only knowledge of America is what i’ve read and seen in movies. I’m sure it’s not actually like how it’s portrayed much the same way all English folk don’t talk like Kiera Knightly and wear bowler hats. Similary, we Yorkshire folk don’t all own whippets and slap our wives 🙂
picarusslimParticipantNever let anyone tell you what to take and how to take it. A builder wouldn’t let someone tell them how to put up a wall. Sure, you’ll say what needs doing but it’s up to the builder to choose materials and how they put it up. If someone asks me to take shots of them I’ll bare in mind what they want the end product to be but at the end of the day if they knew how to take a pictures they wouldn’t be asking me, even if there’s no cash involved, it’s my work and my name attached to it.
At least you don’t think you’re David Bailey, that’s a start. Just read up on the basics and build on them. Ask here and other forums, don’t be defensive, i’ve learnt a lot from other people and I’ve learnt even more from being directly criticised.
I’m no professional, if I charge it’s for a band or a friend of a friend and more often than not i’ll refer to a professional, but I have a passion for what I do. You need to find this in your work, consider what you do as your art rather than just taking photos. And for sake of us, learn how to take focus and use an image editor!! ; )
I’m sure the many pros and experts here will help you, they’re a friendly bunch.
picarusslimParticipantCan’t believe you dropped in the fact your partner is disabled, thats quite low. Whilst it might come across bitchy to you people here take pride in what they do and take exception to shoddy work. It looks like you do charge for what you do so you should accept criticism, who knows you might learn something. 😉
picarusslimParticipantThanks JCFindley.
I’m quite new to HDR. I’ve never really liked it after seeing those other worldy shots but once I’d seen a few realistic looking ones I decided to give it a go. I’m using photomatix and at the moment just getting to grips with it. There aer a few efforts on my flickr stream, some urban exploration and a landscape.
I’ll check out the link.
Thanks nightrose!
picarusslimParticipantWow. The cheek of it.
I assume he not only lacks a camera but also the skills require to use one.  It’s almost like he’s charging you to rent a camera to him.
picarusslimParticipantWow! How much do they charge and where’s my phone?
picarusslimParticipantThanks JCFindley, appreciated! The stem is a bit boring. I actually took that last week, i’ve just moved house from a city to a more rural area so i’m trying my hand at a few nature shots. I’ve always had trouble with waterfalls and the likes. I was glad to find the frog though, he made for a few decent shots.
I’ve a fair few more I haven’t finished processing, including some HDR, which i’m also unsure about.
May 25, 2013 at 3:16 pm in reply to: Brutal feedback needed. It's time for someone other than my mom to critique me. #10089picarusslimParticipantI’d be repeating myself if I provided any criticism, you do have the eye for it though. I’ll favourite the ones I like (same name on flickr as here.)
picarusslimParticipantWell, she’s made about 35k from this thread.
I wonder if she needs a photographer for the court appearance?
picarusslimParticipantSorry JC, nearly missed this! I’ve started sourcing a better supplier. If i’m going to make money at this i’d rather it be at selling ‘art’ and setting up walks, workshops etc rather than getting work as a tog (not knocking it, it’s just not for me) . I’m going to start looking at getting exhibitions etc. I’m happy doing the odd portrait, book or cd cover or shooting a band but other than that I like a bt of creative freedom.
picarusslimParticipantum. dumb question…i can’t see where to add my avatar (i’m going to add one at a jaunty angle, with photoshopped lens flare..)
picarusslimParticipant..and not a fox in sight.
If i’d been ‘hassled’ by sites like this enough to have to put warnings on my pages i’d probably starting asking some questions about my skills.
picarusslimParticipantWSC – chuckle.
picarusslimParticipantShe asked for a critique and got one Kirsten. Fucking what anyone else thinks is the biggest bottleneck on progression not to mention a hallmark of a fauxtographer. If she’s putting her work out there to draw in custom then I’d imagine she’s very much interested in what other people think. I like some of her other work and i’m not knocking her as a photographer.
