Found this one on craigslist…if you believe his about me, he says he has been shooting for 30 years.

cass335ParticipantWell, I am going to throw in my 2 cents. =) I will never wear a dress to photograph anything. I think I would be spending too much time worrying about my clothes, and what might be showing if I get on the ground (or whatever). Up until this year I wore dress slacks and a nice blouse to EVERY photo shoot I did. Now I just dress up for weddings. When I am photographing kids or newborns, or am in situations where I know I am going to be on the ground more than standing up, I like to wear a comfortable (but nice looking) pair of jeans and a business casual shirt. Aside from not wanting the restrictions from dressing formally, I don’t want to worry about ruining my dressy clothes.

cass335ParticipantHere’s one that popped up on my feed today.
Sand sure is tasty….
one of the most unflattering “boudoir” poses…just look through the whole album..
I’m trying to figure out where the other half of her body went…did they bury her in the sand??
cass335ParticipantMichigan has some unique city names, too.
Mackinac Island (pronounced Mackin-aw), and we also have Mackinaw City. Same area, spelling just indicates either island, or city. Charlotte (pronounced Shar-Lot not shar-let). When my TN cousins came up and we told them they had to drive through Charlotte they had spelled it all wrong on their paper, and got lost. They had it written: Sharlot… Oh and here is a fun one: Ypsilanti (ip-sil-ant-ee). Or Sault Ste Marie (soo-saint-marie)
Makes sense that ketchup would go on waffles if they were potato(e) based.
My grandpa was from Alabama (and moved up here before I was born) and he used to use all the redneck words Jeff Foxworthy used to talk about. Yont-to, Get on over hee-ya… etc. I say y’all but I probably picked that up from him.
@BEG: My sister called it “Melk” almost her whole life, only recently started saying “milk”
cass335ParticipantYea my cousins ALWAYS laugh. When they come up to visit we all get together at my Uncle’s house. When one of us asks for pop, they always like to repeat it and really draw it out “P-ah-p”. It’s funny to hear them try and do a “northern” accent because they have such strong TN Southerner accents. When I was younger I asked them what they call it and they said Coke or Soda. I said what if it isn’t coke. They told me that if they go through a drive-thru and ask for Coke the person would respond “What kind”.
cass335ParticipantThis photo concerns me. This is a kid looks like she is 2 (based on the other pics in the album). why is she so close to this water without a parent nearby? Seems really unsafe to me.
cass335ParticipantI’m in Michigan.
Here we say “pop” when we are refering to soda. Which my cousins from TN love to make fun of.
I have a friend who was born in England (sorry don’t know where exactly) and one day during our photography class we had to stylize and shoot food. One girl brought in a Peanut butter and jelly sandwich, and my friend told us how they don’t eat that over there. We ended up having a discussion about what types of foods he eats that we think is gross. The one thing that really stood out was that he told us that they do not put syrup on waffles, instead they like ketchup. To me that just sounds gross.
cass335Participant@iliketag Wow..haven’t heard the name Montgomery Wards in forever! =)
As for that type of photography, I used to work at a JCP studio. It was before I had my own business, and I think it helped me become more confident in working with clients. I used to be really shy. It really helped bring me out of my shell. But…it is very limited photography. I am glad I don’t work there anymore, because I definitely needed to do my own thing. But I can’t say I didn’t learn anything.
cass335Participant@seth I looked some more, and she responded further down in the comments of the question. Looks like she may be just starting out and willing to accept constructive critism. Pretty much everyone told her to shoot Raw and NEVER use walgreens/cvs. Though…there were a handful of people telling her there was nothing wrong with that. But she seemed more interested in trying out RAW. So I gotta give her credit for putting effort into wanting to make herself better.
@eee As for that baby photo….ummm…..yikes! That poor kid!cass335Participantthey had a photography page on fb. And based on the following discussion I assumed they were marketing themselves as professional. I guess I could be wrong. But I don’t think so.
cass335ParticipantWell….here is a question from another site I am on….
“I have a Nikon D3100 and shoot in Automatic-JPG. When I upload my pictures to Walgreens, CVS, etc. to be printed it always gives me a resolution warning on 8×10 or higher. How can I avoid this? Is there something I can do differently while taking the pictures so I can print them in any size I want without it being blurry? Any suggestions?”
cass335ParticipantDid you see her wedding package prices??
“I can do package deals for weddings and receptions that we can work out when you contact me, but on average they will cost no more than $100 to $250
And I will post package deals monthly”Clearly, she is over charging…
I never will understand why people think they need all these “enhancements”.
Just a little bit grainy…
cass335ParticipantOkay…just came across this one…
I really don’t even know what to say about this senior portrait….other than I hope this is a relative that didn’t pay for this photo.
What graduating senior guy doesn’t love to pose like a girl….
Straight Horizons are so mainstream…
Okay seriously laughed my ass off about this one.
Seriously…just go look through their whole site
cass335ParticipantThat is not them but wow were those bad. I was avoiding a link, but I guess it doesn’t matter since it has been posted before. I do think it was good that they gave in so quickly. I have trademarked my business name. There is another business that uses the same name as mine, but it isn’t even in the same state, and I don’t care to go after someone if they aren’t doing anything to harm my business. If they were local (or even same state) then I may go about it differently.
