cass335Participant
They responded thanking us for our time and response, and that they understand now.
cass335ParticipantThat’s what we told them. We let them know that we are not using it as part of our business name, but strictly as a description. We told them if they had something legal stating that we could not use it as a description then we would gladly look at it, but as far as the copyright law we were not violating anything. I am super curious to hear their reply, but nothing yet. And I feel prett good knowing we know the law pretty well. My hubby is really good with law. He isn’t an attorney, but his parents joke that he should have been one. He wrote our business contract, and a lawyer looked it over and said it looked great. =)
cass335ParticipantMy interest was sparked when I was little. My dad always did photography as a hobby. He did shoot a couple weddings, but that was for friends/family. Mostly he shot macro. I used to LOVE going out on walks with him and then admiring his shots after they were developed. As I got older I got my own camera and found that I loved photographing people. Several years ago I was talking with my grandpa and I found out that he used to be really in to photography as well. And when my Dad was younger my Grandpa actually had a dark room setup in his basement. So I guess it is in my genes. Photography is my main job. I am fortunate enough to be in a situation where my husband makes enough money to support our family so that I can have my photography as my full-time job.
Now my 10 year old son is interested in photography and I have been slowly teaching him. He went out and snapped 150 pictures the other day (his first time using my camera and I made him shoot on manual). It was interesting to see what he found interesting…and we went through each picture and talked about what could have improved it, or why it would be considered a throw away. About 90-95% were throw-aways, but he did have a select few that I edited and they turned out pretty nice.
cass335ParticipantYup, that would be them.
cass335ParticipantIf there is any day in your life you want to be picky about your photographer…it is definitely your wedding day! If you don’t care for her pick someone else.
” I know that she has shot weddings before, they are not terrible pictures”
If you don’t look at someone’s wedding porfolio and say “WOW!” then you should move on.
We have a local wedding association and they are a great resource for finding anything you could need. You should see if you have one locally that could help you out in finding the perfect photog for your wedding.
cass335ParticipantI like the hoodie shot, and I like the hand. My only critique is a small one…and probably a personal preference as well….in the hand shot you have just a little edge of the black sleeve the person was wearing. I would crop it out.
Other than that I totally agree with what WCS said. I like your style!
cass335ParticipantAlrighty here is my opinion:
Animals/Nature: I like the first peacock, the cat (a lot..great lighting, clarity, and comp), and the last snake. The 2nd peacock seems snapshot-ish, and the tail blends into the surroundings. The 1st snake photo seems a bit warm, and I am not a huge fan of the large blurry rock, it is distracting.
Scenes: The boardwalk would be better if there was definition or clouds in the sky. I like the simplicity of the second photo and the composition. 3rd photo appears to be tilted which I suspect is from the angle it was shot at. 4th one I don’t find all that interesting. I like the last one quite a bit. The DOF keeps it interesting, and it has nice tones with the various colors.
Creative Photography: They are neat but I have seen the Disc/waterdrops quite often actually. I still like the 3rd one though. I also like the 4th one, it has nice lighting, and clarity.
Portrait: Needs some work, but definitely not terrible. Just some practice would help with that. My favorite….the Doctor Who cosplay. But that’s because I am a HUGE Dr. Who fan and he actually looks quite a bit like David Tennant.
Hope that answer gave you what you are looking for. =)
cass335ParticipantMy thoughts:
1st pic: Doesn’t really have anything of interest to focus on.
2, 3, and 6: Over Saturated. The peacock feather doesn’t seem to have good focus. I don’t find the leaves very interesting. and 5 is out of focus.
4: Not sharp focus, the leaf/branch is center in the image, and overall it doesn’t seem that interesting.
5: a more interesting shot, but the leaves should be completely in the picture. Instead they are partially cropped off. Also, doesn’t seem sharp
6: Your best shot out of the bunch. But still seems to lack sharpness. And I would have gotten ridden of that dark fuzzy line in the background. It takes away from the leaf.
7: Nothing really interesting to look at in the image. If the focus is supposed to be the bridge, it is too close to the edge of the image. My eye is drawn to the large tree next to the bridge. The sky seems blow out, and I am not a big fan of the sun coming through the trees like that (unless you can see the rays also).
The Dandelion shot ( I missed it the first time through): Also, not sharp, and dead center.
Check out this site for some tips on composition: http://photoinf.com/General/KODAK/guidelines_for_better_photographic_composition_rule_of_thirds.html
Overall, I would strongly suggest that you work on getting sharp focus in your images. You can have a perfectly composed shot and if it isn’t sharp it will ruin the shot. As for interesting subjects, if you know good composition and lighting you can pretty much make anything interesting. cass335Participant@photoalertguy That last one…..wow….there are no words. The expression on her face even looks pained…
cass335ParticipantI agree, you need some work. But hey…you are new at it. That’s to be expected. And no you are not a fauxtog because you aren’t charging. If you enjoy it then keep on shooting and experimenting!
cass335Participant@creyes: Lol, straight to the point.
I agree with IHF and BEG. You need to put some major work into learning fill lighting while doing portraits. I also agree that your pet/animal photos are much better than your people work. However…I really hate your giant “sample only” words across your images. It makes is extremely hard to even see the image behind them. Turn down the opacity on them and you can still have them there, but they will be more subtle. Or…upload them to a different website (such as flickr) that does not allow right-clicking on images. Then just post 5-10 on FB with a link to a full album of them. And…I, too, am curious about your diploma…
cass335ParticipantI don’t mean to get stuck on this person’s page, but come on! This POOR POOR child!!
cass335Participant@snap_happy the logo they are using is terrible! On the kids pictures it makes them look like they have cracks on their faces.
cass335Participant@beg Yea very tempting! Lol.
@cam cute pic! =)I think baby chicks are so adorable..the problem is what do most of the fauxtogs do with them when they are done with them! Cuz we know they don’t keep them…
cass335ParticipantI saw that the other day when one of the FB photog groups, I am part of, posted it. I sent it along to a fauxtog I know. Shows she read it, but I got no response and she is still planning a live chick photoshoot. Her pics are really bad too. (I posted a link to her here once before).
