So first there was a fake lawyer, and now she made an accout to pose as aa fake photo thief. haha I’m dyingalexandraParticipant^ oh my lol
Oh. Came across this today:
http://london.kijiji.ca/c-services-photography-video-Professional-Photo-Doctoring-W0QQAdIdZ515152130Pretty self-explanatory, but as a female I think I’d rather have a face full of blemishes than a beard…
alexandraParticipantYeah, I definitely wouldn’t hire anyone making grammar mistakes like that, even when it’s only $15 for a baby session, no matter how good they are (but in this case we don’t need to worry about the latter…
The over-used fake lens flare on this one is really starting to annoy me. Looks like they just took a soft brush, bright color and gave every other photo a click whether appropriate or not. Also what’s the point of a watermark, if you can’t tell what it says:
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=695636493783825&set=pb.497351460278997.-2207520000.1376880545.&type=3&theater

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=561767233847493&set=pb.481330035224547.-2207520000.1376880857.&type=3&theateralexandraParticipantAnd here I thought eyes were an important feature to look out for when shooting a portrait… not to mention good white balance and focus…
Oh, and ew! With the “blown away” one, I’m pretty sure I know another fauxtog who abuses the same set of photoshop actions with the bright, vibrant greens and blues, and a weird way of “fixing” certain areas of the image that are over, or under-exposed. To be honest, I don’t know much about actions, and I never used them, but when something looks this unnaturally horrid, you can definitely tell…
blown.away: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=272038249604657&set=pb.220302188111597.-2207520000.1376527323.&type=3&theater

Desaturated skin baby:
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=361660083957441&set=pb.201383103318474.-2207520000.1376531786.&type=3&theater
Cool sky that seems 100% legit:

Skin tones so flat, there is no room for unwanted imperfections such as eyebrows, and hair:
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=361193100670806&set=pb.201383103318474.-2207520000.1376531786.&type=3&theater
I’m sure the library loves to see their books being used like this:
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=318991844890932&set=pb.201383103318474.-2207520000.1376533623.&type=3&theateralexandraParticipant“the most amazing photo I ever captured..” Oh my hahaha…
I don’t know if this page was shared here before, but these ones are rather terrible:
Sunburnt bride and groom with over-exposed dress and surrounding areas:
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=671724652857499&set=pb.235765209786781.-2207520000.1376321392.&type=3&theater
Adding on, the weird patchy pixel chunks in some of their photos make me think of what happens when you try to de-noise, then re-sharpen a photo in lightroom. Also, this person seems to hold a lot of contests where you enter photos, which I really think is a bad idea for most (except in this case, where the photos entered are just as bad as the ones taken by this photographer). This one’s just weird, like the blur, and the angle, and the pose:
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=670435439653087&set=pb.235765209786781.-2207520000.1376321400.&type=3&theaterI’d be surprised/gasping too if someone took a photo of me this bad:
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=663691470327484&set=pb.235765209786781.-2207520000.1376321438.&type=3&theaterBlack bra under a strapless wedding dress – like, really? Maybe only someone with that bad of taste would hire this fauxtog:
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=663691750327456&set=pb.235765209786781.-2207520000.1376321438.&type=3&theateralexandraParticipantI’m not sure how I feel about this one… This is no where near the worst this forum has seen – I mean sometimes she does have some nice shots – they’re all in focus and all, but I feel like most are over-edited and over-exposed.
This one is definitely over-exposed. If she was going for a washed-out look, at least do something to preserve to poor model’s back leg:
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=532151643498840&set=pb.215330985180909.-2207520000.1376320013.&type=3&theaterNot sure how I feel about this kind of editing:
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=498495266864478&set=pb.215330985180909.-2207520000.1376320255.&type=3&theaterDefinite use of on-board flash. Also, something seems a bit off with the un-naturally smooth skin and eye-whites:
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=473407882706550&set=pb.215330985180909.-2207520000.1376320345.&type=3&theaterGaussian-burred background:
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=391854797528526&set=pb.215330985180909.-2207520000.1376320482.&type=3&theaterflat skin-tones and instagram-like effect:
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=491535980893740&set=pb.215330985180909.-2207520000.1376320255.&type=3&theateralexandraParticipantI find that many photographers who are prone to otherwise producing uninteresting photos use this whole look to cover up their lack of skills. So no, I am not a fan of this most of the time at least. It would be a lie to say I have never done this as an experiment in attempt to make an otherwise boring photo more interesting, but I would never feature this work amongst my professional shots.
When it comes to instagram, I feel like the filters they put together do a good job fixing poor lighting conditions, and blowing out skin tones in order to cover up imperfections and bad lighting/shadows on the face. Two of the filters (Hudson and Toaster) also contain mild scratches. This makes sense if all you’ve got is your phone, and don’t want to carry around studio lighting with you all day in case there happens to a situation that calls for a taking a snapshot. Again, I find that it would be totally wrong to edit someone’s wedding with instagram, but I think that whole app/website is great for sharing photos, and for correcting fun snapshots taken with one’s phone.alexandraParticipantCompetition for the worst baby photo ever, anyone?
Contestant #1:
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=591600344188247&set=pb.513909178624031.-2207520000.1375930451.&type=3&theaterContestant #2:

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=573838409297774&set=pb.513909178624031.-2207520000.1375930456.&type=3&theaterI think this fauxtog is just a whole new level of bad…
Setting aside bad editing, and equipment used (my “mobile uploads” album from 2009 contains far better quality photos than the ones on this page), I don’t think this person has a clue as to how composition works, how the angle at which humans are photographed is important, and of course the importance of good lighting…
Chopped off arm and harsh light on the face for example:
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=682319495116331&set=pb.513909178624031.-2207520000.1375930093.&type=3&theateralexandraParticipant@iliketag the editing on that “Ree Creations” one you posted is indeed a true nightmare! Makes me think of the effects I had on this one free phone app that I never ended up using (for a good reason – not even to share goofy pics with friends haha).
And the whole “Artography” thing. Ugh!alexandraParticipant“I have an eye for perfection, [and] an excellent editing program”
I couldn’t find a facebook page or website for this one, but the 8 photos they posted were atrocious enough…
http://london.kijiji.ca/c-services-photography-video-Essence-Photography-W0QQAdIdZ489535265alexandraParticipantOh wow! The timestamp in some of those images (as well as the photo quality) reminds me of a “Kodak Easyshare” camera I once had, that was worth about $50 at its prime… and yeah, the clip art really annoys me…
alexandraParticipantFound another front page candidate. At first I thought it could have just been a “mom photographer” taking pictures of her kids, friends, and family, but nope. Further browsing of their website took me to a paged labelled as “announcements” where They say they charge $40 for a 1 hour session.

No crazy editing on this one (if any editing) but in short, I would say this person has a very poor sense of what good composition and lighting is. The fact that under their calendar part it says they have booked some weddings makes me feel really bad for the people getting married. I sincerely hope this person’s not their main photographer, or even their second-shooter… or even their tenth shooter…
alexandraParticipantI too really enjoyed Warren Jr’s work!
Anyway, I found one who’s rights to a spot on the front page would be in no way debatable… I was browsing through a classifieds website, and I came across this atrocity advertising their wedding services:
https://www.facebook.com/BlatzPhotographyTheir whole “June wedding” album just looks like they boosted the contrast, saturation, and used some sort of “faux HDR” filter or action in whatever program (or maybe even website) they were using. All the photos have a really high depth of field (as if taken with a cell-phone) which they tried to fix by selectively gaussian blurring certain areas of the image like my personal favorite one here:
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=349830561786626&set=pb.306832992753050.-2207520000.1373476835.&type=3&theaterLevitating family:

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=307817585987924&set=pb.306832992753050.-2207520000.1373478817.&type=3&theaterSelective coloring, weird glow-blur, digital backdrop, not to mention over and under-exposed parts of the image. This one has everything:

http://london.kijiji.ca/c-services-photography-video-Capture-your-most-memorable-moments-W0QQAdIdZ502040085alexandraParticipantFirst of all I really wanted to say that this forum has provided me with hours of entertainment! So thank you everyone who has contributed!
Secondly, returning to the “Cainsphotography” guy… So yesterday he commented on one of my photos. I’m not sure how he found me – we’re not friends or anything and I never liked or commented on any of his stuff… This was just an “HDR mode” photo I took for fun with my phone from a moving vehicle and edited with an app I bought. Nothing professional by any means.
Anyway, comment to comment he told me that he wanted to specialize in “HDR portraits” and told me to take a picture of myself and send it to him so he could edit it that way. How do I decline nicely without sounding mean? I really don’t want to be turned into an alien… HELP!
