SharraParticipant
Jones, I’ve heard the Yongnuo flashes like the YN-560 II aren’t bad, but I’ve never used them so I can’t say for sure. Before the SB-910s, I had 2 SB-600s, then 2 SB-800s, and 4 SB-900s. I would’ve kept the 900s except for the over-heating issues, which I experienced on numerous occasions. Any more lighting will be strobes, but I’m torn between Alien Bees, Elinchrom, Paul C. Buff, Profoto, etc. I’m more into landscapers and kids sports like hockey, mountain biking, and lacrosse where strobes aren’t really viable. I see a lot of research on the horizon…
SharraParticipantI forgot about the 28-300 3.5-5.6, which I got as a walk-around lens. It’s all been acquired over the last 6.5 years and really only the tripod, bodies, 70-200 and 2 SB-910s were purchased newโthe rest I’ve gotten on average of 70% to 80% of retail. It’s not Phase One or Mamiya, but it helps my addiction and now I think I’m in digital detox. ๐ I doubt I’ll be getting anything different for quite awhile unless I win the lottery; then I’ll go grab the 400 2.8, 600 4 and 800 5.6. Wishful thinking…
SharraParticipantI started with the original Canon Rebel in 2004, then moved to Nikon with the D300 in 2007, which I no longer have. My arsenal now includes:
2x D800
16 2.8 D fisheye
14-24 2.8
24-70 2.8
70-200 2.8 VR II
24 1.4 G
50 1.4 G
85 1.4 G
135 2 DC
300 4 D
17-35 2.8 D
105 2.8 VR micro
200 4 micro
TC 14E II, 17E II, 20E III
4 x SB-910 flash
R1C1
Gitzo GT2542I like the D800 for its 36 MP, but I wish it had more FPS for sports. The lens I’ve used the most has been the 70-200 for sports and for wildlife when I don’t have the 300 4. I’d love the 800 5.6, but I don’t have $17K.
SharraParticipantEbi, I have no desire to feed your ego. Admittedly, my reasons for asking are selfishโI’d like to see them and ask about the how and why of any that pique my interest. After a day trip to a national park for some autumn landscapes, I came home disappointed even after reading about and trying to put into practice the techniques used by some well-known landscape photographers. I’ve come to the conclusion that I’ve got a long way to go and I thought you might be a source of visual inspiration even if you don’t shoot many landscapes. It’s really nothing more than that.
SharraParticipantEbi, you can’t fault a girl for asking, right? You’ve certainly offered more insightful advice lately as opposed to your brashness a few weeks ago and I respect that. When you’re ready, you’ll post, so I won’t ask anymore.
SharraParticipantKeyAndFill, if you wanted to share your results, I assume you got ). However the image link points to an image that is no longer available.
EMF, I think the blue/green area is a problem for the good majority of people. It was for me, too.
SharraParticipantEbi, I’m not good enough yet to have to worry about being short changed for my images. But I’m sure a few of us here would like to see your Flickr stream! ๐
SharraParticipantIt’s clear Ricky has a command of the English language. No one is INSINUATING anything but his photography should be INCINERATED. His copyright infringements (past, present, or future) are blatantly obvious and his BADLY UNDEREXPOSED portfolios deserve to be showcased here. I have to wonder where he gets his “I’m God’s gift to photography” mentality.
SharraParticipantEbi, I concur with BEG. I was intrigued by the iPhone-lit Tomatilla Mary in your “A lazy shot” thread, but it has since disappeared. ๐ Are you sure a couple aspiring women photographers can’t convince you to change your mind about showing your work? I wouldn’t be surprised if there are others here who would like to see as well.
If not, please keep up the friendly nature and constructive criticism.
SharraParticipantCookieboo, these attempts to “find” people are utterly pathetic. As was said, you should try improving yourself rather than wasting time trashing others that you have no idea who or where they are, me included. I can actually hear you saying, “I am wee Todd did. I am sofa king wee Todd did.”
SharraParticipantThe 41 MP Camera phone is the Nokia Lumia 1020. Fautographers are driven by more MP = better fauxtos.
SharraParticipantPerhaps the horse in a hard right turn was asking the question Vy iz dehr zoh minny mohr orziz aziz dan dehr iz orziz? ๐
SharraParticipantI’m more into the software side as a developer rather than hardware, but I have a couple friends who are doing quite well supporting both corporate and personal IT infrastructure. For me, I think it would be cool to be on the core development team for Photoshop or Lightroom or even the software behind hardware that every serious photographer uses, like calibrators.
Six figures and world travel? I could definitely handle that! ๐
SharraParticipantI took a look at those displays and I’m impressed, to say the least. They’re out of my price range for now, but I’ll definitely keep the Apple Cinema Display in mind when it’s time to upgrade. Compared to the resolutions of those, I can see now why nesgran said I had low res!
SharraParticipantNesgran, thanks for your input. I really didn’t give much thought to photography when I upgraded my system, but I realize now I probably should have. One of the first monitors I ever had for a desktop setup in the late 90s was a 19″ NEC CRT and, in retrospect, ย it was a far cry better than anything else I’ve used. Photography wasn’t the addictive passion then as it is now, but I’ll be sure to pay more attention to my displays when I can upgrade. For now, I’ll just have to make due.
If you think 1920 x 1080 is low resolution, I can only imagine what you’re looking at as you do your own PP! ๐
