… I went back to that site (It’s like a train wreck. You can’t look away!)
This one stood out. Read his comment. These are supposed to be high school PROM shots! Ridiculous!
I was reading the comments on his little “prom shoot” (omg in some you can’t even see the dresses, and the black girl, Shay, looks SO unhappy 🙁 poor dear) and apparently that “Lynnie Love” girl in most of his shoots (and the profile picture) is in high school. God this got WAY more creepy….May 7, 2013 at 6:49 pm #9539PhotoAlertGuyParticipantThe WORSE part about this guy is the fact he get’s these poor girls to sign modeling contracts and promises them broken dreams 🙁
May 7, 2013 at 7:18 pm #9540fstopper89ParticipantUgh, what a total skeeve! Those are minors (well maybe a few are 18) but still! He has no artistic talent.
@iliketag- I know what you mean. Boudoir shoots, when done right, can be very tasteful yet sexy. If I had a shoot like that done I would maybe post one or two tame ones online, but the rest would be only for “specific” eyes to see. Those photos scream “trashy.” I don’t mean to say the girls are trashy girls, but the way they are portrayed in the photos is. Reminds me again of this creepy photographer guy in my town who frequents the bars with his big camera asking girls if he can do a photoshoot.
Here, I found another local fauxtog. She’s been around for awhile and I was hoping to maybe see some improvement since the last time I looked, but sadly there is none. She has no idea how to manipulate light. Her posts are kiddish and unprofessional. She claims she doesn’t do much editing, that she doesn’t add or remove things in the photos, and “what I shoot is what you get.” Um, it’s more like she has no skill to do these things which are sometimes necessary or preferred. She says she’s a photographer, not a graphic artist… as if that is supposed to make her a better photographer than those who do editing. If there was a photographer out there (and there are many!) who hardly have to edit at all and have superb images, that’s fine, but clearly she is not one of those. And most of her photos are out-of-focus. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Attic-Box-Photography/207405492633671
Since she claims to not add or remove things, this is obviously not a composite… and it doesn’t look safe to me. Even a fall off of this small trunk has the potential to seriously hurt this newborn. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=514316181942599&set=a.514316025275948.117689.207405492633671&type=1&theater
May 8, 2013 at 12:24 am #9542RizzoParticipantto say nothing of the awkward pose. that poor baby. :/
here’s a new one i found. i’m pretty sure the ‘business name’ says it all. https://www.facebook.com/AlyssasBackwoodsPhotography
May 8, 2013 at 2:23 pm #9548MendParticipantnothing was really said about this guy that i posted, looked like only one person made any comment, so i’m at least going to write my own thing about his stuff.
first off, i found his stuff from his boasting about being a photographer in a facebook group that is for people who want to “sitemodel” to get advice on their pictures to better their modeling. completely different story about that group. but the group has a lot of underage girls in it and he’ll make comments about their looks, whether he realizes their ages or not, the guy is 27. He would try and talk a big talk about photography skills and techniques but mostly just talked like he was talking down to everyone who didn’t think his “advice” was corrected. he talked about how he likes when photos are over exposed and says he’s an HDR photographer but everything still just looks crap.
he also wrote this little blip
” I know how this sounds but I agree with some of thisbeing a photographer. I don’t think over edits are bad unless it makes you look way to alien. I say this because I am an HDR photographer. If you were to look through Cainsphotography I always tend to go for that color punch. I don’t think partial B&W is bad since it directs the eyes to color objects. Though I will say every lady in here is lovely in her own way. I just wish there was more gals like these girls in Monroe, MIchigan. Since gals here are too shy as if they hate any current photo of themselves being taken. I shoot with a Canon T3 btw”Now for the examples
I don’t even think this is slightly decent for a snapshot…why would you post this to your “professional” photography page?

his pictures look like just snapshots that an average person would take. uploads too many pictures that aren’t worth sharing. his edits are horrible.i’ve found no actual pricing, but he’s got the page marked as “$50+” for price.
his pictures just piss me off that he tries to come off as this super hot shot photographer
May 8, 2013 at 3:36 pm #9550iliketagParticipantOh
My
Word…The “test” shots…why would you post those? I mean, those are the ones I delete in camera! I’ll admit I’ve taken the photos of my dining room light to play with exposures and play with depth of field but I would NEVER post them anywhere. There’s absolutely no reason to! “Test” shots to be posted would be like giving yourself a project and watching the changes from a day to day to show examples of progress or a growing understanding.
Boasting about a T3 is silly to me. It would be one thing if it was like “Hey now, I use a T3 and these are the kind of shots I get -insert link to great shots with an understanding of lighting/composition/mechanics-, so you can use a less expensive camera!” but not in the attitude of “Oh, you uses a 5D Mk II? Well aren’t weeee fancy. Not everyone can afford… blah blah blah”
I would be horrified if I were ever that thick! I worry about my work ALL the time (I struggle with self confidence…) but I have never ever thought that something on that level was God’s gift to the photographic community.
*siiigh*May 8, 2013 at 3:41 pm #9551fstopper89ParticipantOh wow those are just… bad… no other words. Aside from that, he has no idea what HDR is (I think he believes that means oversaturated).
Nice party snapshot… at a doomsday prepper’s apartment (look in the pantry! lol)… https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=297902337003057&set=a.175800765879882.35931.175746772551948&type=1&theater
May 8, 2013 at 3:42 pm #9552SarahParticipantThese are not his images aparently: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=336316616494962&set=a.299335460193078.67705.175746772551948&type=3&src=https%3A%2F%2Ffbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.net%2Fhphotos-ak-frc1%2F229603_336316616494962_2104283035_n.jpg&size=960%2C653#!/media/set/?set=a.299335460193078.67705.175746772551948&type=1
& yet he put his logo all over them.
May 8, 2013 at 3:44 pm #9553fstopper89ParticipantAlyssa’s Backwoods Photography… oh my! “You can’t beat my prices!” ugh. Sad sad sad!
May 8, 2013 at 3:54 pm #9554iliketagParticipantI think one of the most hilarious things about the Alyssa’s Backwoods Photography one is the profile picture… The guy wincing. Love it!
May 8, 2013 at 4:11 pm #9555MendParticipantthe guy put his logo on them because it’s his edits….stupid either way.
i sometimes offer fun edits for people, part of me wants to put a logo on it so they know who edited it, but it’s not my picture so i don’t.
May 9, 2013 at 12:23 am #9560iliketagParticipantSo, I went back to that CainsPhotography site. Lord have mercy, I don’t know why I keep doing this to myself. (I feel kind of guilty clicking on facebook links at work…)
Can I just say, I wish there could be a nationwide (worldwide?) intervention for these fauxtographers. Not to cut them down, but to put things into perspective and help them realize their strengths and their learning points. I believe everyone has something right they’re doing and that’s the place to start, but man… I really wish there were a way to reach them without some crazy internet shitstorm.
May 9, 2013 at 6:39 am #9563cameraclickerParticipantI went to Cain’s and clicked through a horrible gallery of what might have been poorly edited cell phone photos, then noticed a blurb on the right side:
Edited Photos. Reduced Noise, Color Correction, HDR, These photos were not taken by Cainsphotography They are edits for show examples. — with Ashlie Mack.
Certainly leaves me wondering what they are trying to show.
May 9, 2013 at 10:16 am #9568docwalkerParticipantI don’t like to be the one doing this – but this guys work really bugs me and I have to post some of these photos.

This guy tends to oversharpen his images, and uses old tires, newspapers, and such.
The MAIN problem is that several photographers in his area have contacted him to give him some pointers on how to improve his images, and he thinks he’s already good enough he doesn’t have to change anything because he has “experience” in the photography field. I think he’s claiming 20 years, but I could be mistaken.
You can see more images here:
