Someone doesn’t know how to use a template! Also, couldn’t she tell the image was distorted? Did she even care? If asked, would she say “I was in a rush, I had a MILLION things to do that day.”
Live animals and young children never go well together. Last year at Easter, a local faux posted a photo of a child basically strangling a duckling while the caption read “This baby is so adorable! He loved the ducks so much!” No. Just, no.
March 23, 2014 at 6:54 pm #17881camilleParticipantShe is “absolutely in love with photography,” but it doesn’t love her back:

March 23, 2014 at 8:26 pm #17882nesgranParticipantBut she has invested money into all the gear a protog could need (read rebel t3i, two lights and wrinkly backdrop)

“I walk, I look, I see, I stop, I photography…”
Helping you capture all those memories!
She should add on “I skipped English classes.” She spells “edited” wrong on every page of her website.
I just can’t believe what I’m seeing. http://jmlphotography1.wix.com/jml-photography
March 26, 2014 at 10:19 pm #17948Rise Against FauxtogsParticipantThis is officially the most annoying website to browse:
March 26, 2014 at 10:33 pm #17949Rise Against FauxtogsParticipantAt this page, check out the tenth slide. The baby is most definitely giving the fauxtog the middle finger.

March 27, 2014 at 8:07 am #17958EyeDocPhotogParticipantI feel just a little guilty posting this FB site because she is the daughter of my wife’s good friend:
https://www.facebook.com/AllisonPensePhotography
On FB, we’re acquaintances from my wife>her mom>her. And I’m bombarded with her faux-tography each and every week.
It’s getting to me. She definitely deserves a place on this site because of in-attention to detail. And no raw images. And no use of lightroom / CS6 / Elements. And no use of L glass. Or a full-frame sensor body. Or tack-sharp images…
March 27, 2014 at 10:03 am #17959cameraclickerParticipantYou sure you gave us the right link? The vast majority of those photos are pretty good! There are a few with blown out sky and a couple I would crop differently, but I enjoyed going through her photos.
This one might have benefited from a CP filter: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=602457233129332&set=a.305407582834300.68185.213084412066618&type=1&theater
Love this one: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=623836940991361&set=a.305407582834300.68185.213084412066618&type=1&theater
March 27, 2014 at 10:25 am #17960EyeDocPhotogParticipantthat was correct link… I guess it’s just a matter of taste… the over-exposures, nothing tack-sharp, the tilt/slant “thing”…
I suppose it’s also the FB convo with her some months back where she was asking ME about why I don’t try to branch out into a second career etc. based on my daughters’ shots, and I had said I don’t have the time or desire to launch a 2nd career – at which point her comment was something to the effect of “it doesn’t take time! Just shoot and give the people the shots on USB and you’re done.” That turned me off….
March 27, 2014 at 10:56 am #17961Rise Against FauxtogsParticipantI agree with cameraclicker here. I think her photography is lovely. Yes, there are a couple of misses, but on the whole she does a really nice job.
Sour grapes, EyeDocPhotog?

Spend 6:15 looking at the beginning of this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4AoaNMWvfZE
He introduces himself, then says he shoots and delivers the images right out of camera — to People Magazine.
I can’t comment on tack sharp, her web page photos are too small and Facebook is not the best platform but what I saw looked pretty sharp, considering. Certainly reasonable DOF and her subjects looked pretty good. I saw some keystoning but I see that with almost everyone who uses a regular lens and delivers directly from the camera. It is a pet peeve of mine, but there are times the keystoning looks better than fixing it. Sometimes partly fixing it is the best compromise. If you go through http://bobanddawndavis.com/, you will see keystoning in their images. I doubt B&H would invite him to speak if they thought he was clueless and he would not have lasted in the news industry either.
I took another quick look through her photos and didn’t see any where I thought she missed the exposure of her subject.
March 27, 2014 at 12:04 pm #17963EyeDocPhotogParticipantwell, I guess we’ve discovered why I’m not a photographer for hire.
I should stick to my day job. 🙂
Not really sour grapes, more like envy I guess now that I think about it. I’ve got probably $20,000 worth of camera gear and this gal is using the equivalent of a Kidizoom and making images as good as, or better, than my own.
My sister in law is in the same category. A graduate of FIT, she’s the creative director of a major NYC corporate identity firm. With one snap of her iPhone, her “eye” catches scenes that blow me away. I wish I had that talent.
But my sis-in-law has reminded me time and again that she can’t successfully treat a potentially blinding eye infection, I guess we’re even.
March 27, 2014 at 3:23 pm #17964Shaugn1ParticipantOkay, so I have a Fauxtog of the year award to give out here…This is a friend of a friend who bought a camera and decided to quit her job and become a full time freelance photographer. I have no qualms with anyone who has a dream or wants to learn more about photography, but this girl is just so arrogant it drives me nuts! She is constantly bugging people to “like” her page, posting updates about her photography “biz”, and makes comments on her own work like “this belongs in a magazine!” What makes matters worse is she is HORRIBLE at photography!! Her images are noisy, out of focus, and underexposed and she charges $200 for a sitting fee. I honestly cannot imagine anyone hiring her. Here is some examples of what I am talking about-
Oh, did I mention she hired people to dress up as mermaids for a shoot? Also, I love the comment here-
And the best part about this last one is that I saw the mom of this baby’s FB page and it looks like she hired a different local photographer to take her daughters pictures as well. Maybe she wasn’t as thrilled about the results as she claims to be in her review of the photographer.
Here is the image the real photographer took-
So seriously, I don’t want this girl harassed or anything, I just had to share some of these photography fails!!
March 27, 2014 at 9:15 pm #17973ShutterBunny317ParticipantSo much here to work with.
This is a local.
