Supposed to be in a modeling portfolio. This one would have made the trash immediately, she has such an awkward pose and facial expression, it’s not in sharp focus, and then she went and over-softened her face. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=395682667151486&set=a.394182590634827.102983.313548472031573&type=3&theater — HAHAHAHAHAHA.. Wow, incredible use of filters to cover up hideous work that in turn makes it even more gruesome..

I wonder why these people even use watermarks… No ones going to steal this shit and call it their own

well stef,  I don’t know about ‘minor’ usefulness,  seeing how histograms show you how evenly balanced your whites and blacks are.. I’d say it’s pretty useful.. if your first shot is spot on without needing to adjust.. I congratulate you. you epitomize awesomeness.. Personally I aim my first shot through a white balance filter set custom WB.. then take a control exposure with -0- ev then adjust my shutter or aperture to balance out the histogram as relatively good as possible .. but some people can just take perfect shots… …. Again, how much do you charge for lessons? $50 you say?

While we’re talking about light meters.. You might as well talk about reflective/incident, etc. And, how to use your histogram to tie it together.  While your “built in light meter” is decent.. It’s far from perfect. You also have to choose spot/center weighted/partial/average/multizone and whatever else is out there in different cameras.. This is pretty much why auto mode sucks.. Camera’s are stupid and coincidentally quite frequently fuck up in automatic modes.. This actually includes every mode that relies greatly on the built in meter… People think because they’ve set their exposure to -0- it’s going to be perfect.. Your histogram will usually tell you how unbalanced your exposures are..  Most people take 1 shot and call it a day.. Take 10, get it right, read the histogram adjust and take a balanced shot. No, I’m not saying your light meter is irrelevant, it’s actually very useful..

well, America is the country for life liberty and pursuit of happiness (for the time being unless liberals get their way)… lest we forget there is freewill too(for now)…. One should remember that it’s not 100% of the photographers fault. The Client should feel partially burdened by guilt for not doing their research 🙂 You get what you pay for, and you ultimately get the shaft if you don’t read the fine print.  Portfolios, reviews and generally just asking questions is reasonable.. I buy stuff offline all the time… But I only do so after reading reviews. Even then, I check elsewhere..  So it’s reasonable to say that in general the market for most of these guys is relative to their clients budget.  I certainly wont do a photo shoot for 50 dollars.  Let alone do it for hours and then edit.. Clients/people get what they ask for regardless of intent. You fail to do your homework, you will fail. Do I feel somewhat bad for them? Ignorance is no excuse. So no, I don’t. Generally, you put a deposit down and sign a contract.. I let my clients review before they pay and if they don’t like it.. They don’t have to buy the photos and nor do they get the photos. I’ll even refund the deposit.. I’ve never had it happen, but it’s my policy. .

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not defending bad ethics, bad photos, and for lack of better words–con artist.. I know people steal photos and use them in their portfolio as well.. So, if you’ve been scammed by illegitimate photos, it’s not your fault.. Take it to court.

    just my opinion 😉

uv filters are good for getting crimped on the end of your lens if you do hit your lens on something and shatter the element. 🙂

seems to me if you are out just blowing $$ on a 70-200 2.8 you should have some idea on what your doing.. IHF is right on it.. Your WB is off. The boy in the background shouldn’t be there..
The only thing I could see doing there with something like that if posed is to tripod the camera frame the shot then make the boy take steps backwards like he’s falling out of focus.. that’s just me .. but you ask for opinion and then you seem to get defensive ?

They make these nifty little contraptions you snap to the end of your lens and take a balanced exposure and set your white balance off of the resulting image.. works pretty well, you should get one
