Fauxtogs who should end up on the main page…

Yeah they have a few problems with being soft and bright spots, not to mention horrid selective coloring.  I don’t think they are so horrible but they are overpriced for what they are showing in their portfolio, in my opinion.  Did your friend put down a deposit or pay a lot at this point?

Also, some of you were asking before how can someone, even on full auto, have blurry pics?  I’ve figured it out.  haha.

My friend needed to borrow my camera, nothing real important, but I was just unloading the pics to convert and etc them for him – I shoot RAW, he’s pretty computer illiterate.  Anyway, I was in a hurry when I handed it to him and he already knows how to run the camera and that I use back button focus, etc., but I just quickly told him to put it on “P” – so using the speedlight I have and it on programmed auto, apparently the camera lowered the shutter speed to like 1/10 and 1/5 because I failed to change the ISO from 200 for him, as I’d last used it outside and do not do anything on auto.  So… oops 🙂

Going off on a tangent, but you can’t win with the “post to their FB” or “don’t post to their FB” argument If you don’t post to their FB and you leave all critiques here at YANAP, someone will inevitably accuse you of being a gutless so and so who doesn’t have the balls to tell them to their face. And then you’ll get the demands to back up your claims by posting your own work if-you-know-so-much otherwise you-don’t-know-wtf-you’re-talking-about-(lol).

If you do go and post on their FB, then you’re stepping over the line and you should GTFO and mind your own business, nobody asked you. Risk of flying monkeys sent your way as a bonus.

Anyway, I don’t agree with people trolling anybody‘s Facebook page simply because I’d like to think we’re at least respectful enough to keep it away from their business where clients don’t need or want to be dragged into it. That said, sheesh at the photographers who unleash invectives on their FB page. Not very professional.

On camera flash, sepia tones, blurring, heavy vignetting, out of focus, awful white balance.  I’m posting this because she advertised on Craig’s List, saying “Check out my site for examples of my photography, it speaks for itself. I do not need an expensive camera with fancy long lenses, I create beautiful pictures with my Olympus digital camera and creative editing skills.” (http://batonrouge.craigslist.org/crs/3564155458.html) I was hoping to find a paragon of skill with a little digital camera and creative editing skills, but I didn’t quite find it.

More power to you as a budding photographer, but I just don’t feel it.

I have a problem with her engagement photos particularly along with a lot of other wedding photos. One of them just screams horrid photoshop edit. For example, page 27 on Weddings. 28. So forth…

The friend has sadly paid a significant amount but has at least received a discount. I just hope she gets what she paid for… but that is hoping for a lot.

Photos are a bit grainy.  Some have Photoshop problems.  I have seen worse.

Maybe you can make sure you get some shots to supplement.  🙂

Lots of overexposed, underexposed, selective coloring, out of focus pictures!

At http://www.winegardenphotography.com/Home_Page.html, there is auto-start music, and if you turn it down to not be heard in one gallery, the next gallery starts new music at mid volume!  Bad form!  If you leave a gallery and go back to it, volume resets and the music is back!  Even worse web design!  The seniors gallery has a way to pause and start again, but no method to advance or reverse?  Weddings has the same controls.

The opening photo would look better if the wood on the wall behind her was a couple of stops darker.  The seniors gallery has a railway tracks photo.  I have come to the conclusion women should not be shot straight on, from the back.  45 degrees seems to be most flattering. The photos are small, on my monitor, there is spot colour, with such small photos it is hard to determine out of focus/in focus, I think focus looks all right, nothing is screaming “change your glasses!”

I think the photography is pretty solid.  More distance between subject and background would help some of them.  The party shots are interesting, I would have left some out, but when everyone is jumping around, timing is critical and it is easy to miss shots, so, good effort.
