Does this count?
http://www.listia.com/auction/16507737-my-photography
She’s selling prints of her “photography”. For the small size, she’s just charging with the points from the site and charging money for larger prints. It looks like she’s also local to me and she has listings for spells too lol.
I’m not asking about if listing there would count for being one, but even though it’s virtual money, it’s still charging for a not that great picture. Or should it mostly be people that provide service and are bad? So like, just someone over all bad, or someone who takes pictures for other people and are bad?
April 21, 2014 at 6:16 am #18405cameraclickerParticipantDoes this count?
Not really. She is selling a finished product. The reference looks like bad digital art which started with a photo, but the customer can see it and decide to purchase or not.
Fauxtographers are selling a service which results in photos the customer only sees after purchase.

This woman in town was in a “photography business partnership” 2 years ago. It was horrific then, and then their partnership went sour. Well, that wasn’t the last of her… she recently launched a FB page titled “(name)’s $20 Mini Sessions!” and is heavily advertising. You’d think she would have spent the past two years learning photography? Not so much I guess.

I found this gem as well, though I don’t know who the fauxtog is. It was just a profile I came across and she had a bunch of these “professional” type shots.

April 28, 2014 at 1:44 pm #18516wtfParticipantWhy is “airbrushing” and over cooking the eyes to an unnatural state even in?? Ick!
April 29, 2014 at 12:28 pm #18525joehomeownerParticipantI have a friend of a friend looking for a wedding photographer for their wedding on May 10th and I already know they turned someone down a student at a mere $600 as being too much money. Anyway, this person above was recommended with the recommendation “they’ve been shooting since before you were born”. And yet in the slideshow alone there is so much wrong… Obvious pop-up flash… Stuff simply out of focus.
I doubt they will find anybody for their price and this fast, but I hope if they do, it’s not that person up there.
April 29, 2014 at 2:11 pm #18526cameraclickerParticipantWhat are you seeing that I’m not? Aside from some keystoning, I don’t see much wrong with what I looked at, at jzpics.com. They have detail in the black suit and white dress which suggests exposure is pretty accurate. I thought the light looked good. I doubt you would be able to hire them for anywhere near $600.
April 29, 2014 at 2:30 pm #18527joehomeownerParticipantOut of focus http://jzpics.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/8.30.09-448-1-copy-1024×679.jpg
Not very sharp http://jzpics.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/5-17-08-148.jpg
Flat use of B&W – it’s just boring and flat http://jzpics.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/3.3.12-Amanda-Khail-623.jpg
April 29, 2014 at 5:51 pm #18528IHFParticipantSorry I’m not seeing it either JoeHomeowner.
Your not very sharp example is a detail shot of her necklace, not crazy for sepia, but the focus is on the necklace
The black and white isn’t flat. I agree that it was done as a black and white to try to save the photo but only because the moment was so good and the tog knows that the client will enjoy it.
No, jzpics is NOT a fauxtographer. They seem quite competent to me. NO, not the be all and end all of the photography world. There were no jaw dropping heart stopping works of art going on, but I don’t think your friend will be disappointed in their photographs. Looks like this photographer will document it well. I’m with CC, I doubt he’ll be within their budget though
April 29, 2014 at 10:36 pm #18530cass335ParticipantI agree and disagree about jzpics. Their wedding shots are not bad. I agree with IHF about not seeing any jaw dropping works of art, but they are nice enough. Not a faux for weddings. Their maternity and newborn stuff however…well…they should probably just stick to weddings. It seems that is what they are best at. If I only had their newborn and maternity to judge..then I would agree they are a Faux.
April 30, 2014 at 11:49 am #18537IHFParticipantI didn’t look at anything but wedding. Off to go have a look
April 30, 2014 at 11:54 am #18538IHFParticipanteh… well… Only a little vomit came up. Kinda blah huh? Still… I wouldn’t call him a faux, just yeah… Do weddings dude
April 30, 2014 at 8:19 pm #18542inkh3art3dParticipantThis is a woman local to me. She put an “ad” on a garage sale type Facebook group that read:
“Need a photographer that will work around your schedule? book an appointment for an upcoming birthday party, reunion, holiday special occasion know anybody thats pregnant tag them here or any thing your interested in let me know!! I have a page be sure to go like it LAA Photography”
I search for her page (https://www.facebook.com/laaphotography1) and these images pop up:

I don’t think i need to say much, i am just stunned that she carries on and charges for this work.
https://www.facebook.com/SOgawjusAlternative/photos_stream
https://www.facebook.com/sogawjusphotography?fref=ts
Some highlights:
Crack pipe tinkerbelle
She says “Off outta the studio now guys n girls, Shoots avail.. Stockport based studio! Sessions starting from £70.00 Either call 0161 XXX XXXX or inbox us for more info. Female Photographer, Relaxed yet professional service.. Family protraits, pet photography, porfolios, alternative art! xx”
Stunning stuff.
May 9, 2014 at 10:48 am #18671sethParticipantI’ve been laughing for 2 hours straight over her business name. She won’t go anywhere with a name like that. Great for a laugh though.
May 11, 2014 at 9:41 pm #18695joehomeownerParticipantSo the person who didn’t want to pay $600 for wedding photos ended up going with this person I believe:
https://www.facebook.com/FlawlessFotosPhotography
I’m not sure what’s going on with some of those senior portraits. The one kid on the purple background has an OOF mouth in some shots and harsh shadows galore. Those also seem to appear in a lot of indoor wedding photos (harsh shadows). Seems like this person has nice equipment (good DOF and crisp shots) but not the experience or know-how to make it really pop. Seems just kinda average.
