So gifted!? What an eye!? This image is so bad you can barely even make out her eyes! Friends of Fauxtogs are almost as bad as the Fauxtogs themselves!
I think the friend is referring to her special gift for photographing ghostly apparitions. Gotta say I’ve never seen one this defined before; You can almost make out its facial features!
This is one where I really wish I knew the photography page it came from. I would like to see what his/her other pictures look like b/c they were so proud of this picture, that they made it the picture for their page! If this is the best, I HAVE to see the rest!
Hilarious. I think the person who commented needs to be checked for an eye condition or get better glasses. What really drives me crazy are the people who take a garbage photo like this with a film camera and immediately call it art – because, well, it was taken with film, and blurry shots are acceptable! Have not idea if that was the case here, but this junk made me think of it.
Oh, this is Tiffen’s new Pro-Mist 12000 filter. It’s for that special soft look that hides facial imperfections, like the subject’s eye, nose and mouth.
In all honesty, I’m on the side of the photographer with The Eye. I’m no professional, but even I can tell the heavy-handed guassian blur improved the original image considerably. I would have given it an extra pass or two. Or three.
I love this, “Friends of Fauxtogs are almost as bad as the Fauxtogs themselves!” They are enablers, plan and simple. I actually see more feedback on the fauxtogs photo’s than professional ones…Good feedback too. It’s like an epidemic.
To be fair, the comment might not be about the single picture (which might be blurry on purpose – privacy), but about the facebook album which might include a really nice picture of an eye….
You’re right of course. Though if said photographer only did portraits it would be weird if they used a custumer’s pic. I wouldn’t use facebook at all… considering they are allowed to use your photos. For a serious photography buisness one should really invest in a decent website.
I shot my profile photo for here, just for here. Apparently I only have one eye, but it is big! ;o)
If you can shoot a decent portrait, you should be able to shoot something to use as your avatar.
I don’t like Facebook, but I am told it is the place to attract customers… On the other hand, I’m not so sure you can attract paying customers with a blurry mess. I think it might have been an arm’s length cell phone photo with a very dirty lens, or perhaps it was moved after it thought it had focus? Hideous either way.
This is what happens when political correctness meets social media and creates an artificial environment where you just can’t call a spade a bloody shovel. Everyone is soooo afraid of hurting someone’s feelings!!! And maybe *gasp* getting unfriended by them!!! Oh the horror!!!
The only reason I can imagine for putting up such a picture is irony. Kind of like the auto body shop owner who puts a cartoon picture of a jalopy on his business card. OR maybe she specializes in photos for people on the protected witness program.
I am so sick of seeing this type of awful “photography” where people try to pass off a complete lack of skill as “creativity” or “art”. There are a million people who buy a dslr who think that they are now photographers and lazily put these types of websites up on FB.
It is insulting to actual photographers who have actual talent and take the time and effort required to run an actual photography business. Now, the title of “photographer” is degraded by these types of hacks who say they are photographers because they don’t want to get a job and think that they are creative when they just lack any sort of taste.
Real photographers have actual talent and put money and time into their business, equipment and education. Real photographers would never even take a photo this bad much less put it out on the internet as an example of their work.
In no respect would it ever be appropriate for a photographer to use a blurry photo anywhere on their business page! Many use a nice client photo and change it often as they have updated work. I have a sample of client images in my cover photo.
You are so right with the caption. 99% of Fauxtogs get into the “business” because their friends and family tell them how awesome their photography is and how they should be making money with it. I had a girl once show me her “portfolio” of iphone shots and ask me if I thought she could make money doing this. I said NO. I had another ask me about watermarks, because she was worried her photos are going to be stolen from the internet and sold. I said THEY WON’T BE. I had a brand new amateur photography “I got a DSLR for Christmas” student ask me what she should charge for Senior Portraits. I said NOTHING, BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT A PROFESSIONAL. (She said, “well, I’m going to do it anyway” and launched her professional photography business exactly one week afterwards.). People are completely clueless about the industry…I fear it is a lost battle.
You people are disgusting. Are any of you truly elite at anything? Do you go to your local park and point out to people that their jump shot doesn’t look like Lebron’s? I didn’t realize anonymous comment sections of sketchy websites had so many experts on the “industry”. You create and you call it art. Someone else creates and you don’t like or agree with it so you call it garbage? She didn’t submit herself to this abuse, someone screenshot an image from facebook. Aren’t we a little old to be scene police?
Most of the commenters on this page are professional photographers who know a lot about the industry. It upsets them when their business is taken away by people who produce images like this.
If the commenters on this blog are such great photographers, then they should be secure in the knowledge that the quality of their work will bring the most customers. Why do they care about a photo someone posted on their Facebook page and if her photo sucks so much how is she ‘taking business’ for them? This entire blog is a testament to the insecurity of artists who need to cut other people down in order to keep their ‘position’ in their field. Who has the time for this level of impotent hatred?
You don’t have to be elite to know that anyone who takes and then posts (as their “business” page profile photo, no less) a photo this incredibly bad has no taste, training or clue and should NEVER say they are a photographer.
If this website is so “sketchy” why would you even be on here and why would the phauxtog HERSELF be on here making fun of everyone else’s “art”? If she can dish it out but can’t take it, then that is really HYPOCRITICAL, don’t you think? Especially when she is one of the worst “professionals” whose work has been featured on this site.
Instagram would definitely help this fauxtographer. Tell her to get an Iphone to improve her work. Actually, just do her a favor and tell her to never take another picture…ever.
apparently you haven’t seen any of her work except for this ONE so until you do you shouldn’t say stupid things. Oh and its easy to talk shit when your not showing your work. Thanks have a wonderful day hun. xoxo
@T.Marie Someone posted a link to her website (a FB page) and yes, the rest of the photos are pretty terrible as well…unless you are a chubby chaser who likes out of focus photos.
People have posted a link to the FB site, so these people coming to this phauxtog’s defense need to get a clue.
This person has “liked” this site and made fun of others on this site, so it is just too bad if she can dish it out but can’t take it. Don’t join in on her childish pouting when she is the first to jeer at what she sees as anyone else’s flaws. What an untalented, uneducated hypocrite!
If this person is so “great”, then her photo wouldn’t have ended up on here in the first place…
Really???? Why don’t any of yall take the time out to go look at her other work and THEN post your comments. ITS HER FACEBOOK. so she can do whatever she wants with HER FACE!! the fact of the matter is that IF IN FACT YOU ARE a PROFESSIONAL….AND AN INDUSTRY LEADER….then why don’t you all ACT like leaders and professionals??? how about constructive critisicsm……??? and if you are worried about people ‘who dont know what there doing” or “ametures” STEALING your business then apparently you have some issues because you dont think your work is enough to stand out amongst everyone elses. Don’t blame others who are trying to be sucessful…for YOUR buisnes being stolen. It is disgusting and REPULSIVE how PROFESSIONALS respond to others in there industry. The fact that you have so much time to sit down and put down someone else’s work….actually thats not even her work she produces for her clients thats just an expression of herself!!!! go check out her work then sit and talk mess. Have a wonderfully amazing day!!!
I would be able to have a “wonderfully amazing day” if you learned how to spell or use punctuation. You don’t know the difference between “there” and “their”? That’s just sad.
It is no wonder that someone as uneducated as yourself would defend something this shitty!
No comment on this image. Different perspective on the comment regarding friends of fauxtogs: It isn’t that they are as bad as they fauxtogs, they are the reason the fauxtogs think they are really photographers. But then, it’s somewhat self-perpetuating, because the low standards of the fauxtogs reinforces the idea, to the non-photographer, that their level of work actually is professional.
Hey there! Quick question that’s totally off topic. Do you know how to make your site mobile friendly? My site looks weird when viewing from my iphone 4. I’m trying to find a template

So, this is a fat girl fauxtography site? The blur helps to soften rolls of fat.

I was scrolling through the photos thinking, “Hmmm. Some of these photos aren’t too bad.”
