Such A Tasteful Wedding Pic

The fauxtog should be slapped with one of those giant hands for creating this monstrosity!

  1. What kills me the most is that this could’ve been an example of how to use select color properly; doing the flowers in her hair is a nice touch, and they actually did it well. But the horrible cutting around her hair, and adding the pointless image in the reflection, completely ruins what could have been an ALMOST decent image!

    • I think the reflection should have stayed in color. The hands are just atrocious and should have been left out.

    • >doing the flowers in her hair is a nice touch

      Nope.

      • Heather

No….no it still would not have been a good example at at all. I respectively disagree.

    • There is never a good use for selective color anymore, some things go out of style for a reason.

    • There isn’t a damn thing on that picture that is nice.

  2. The bride’s expression isn’t great, either. She looks like she’s annoyed at getting married.

  3. Melissa

I love how the head piece is in color but not in the reflection. Purely horrible spot coloring and knowledge of perspective.

  4. This sucks so bad that I was almost pulled into that cheap ass mirror by a whirling vortex of selective coloring and shitty Photoshop skills. It’s HIDEOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!! HAHHHHHH. Sigh. I feel better after saying what I really think about such suck ass examples of wedding photography.

  5. Ashley Taylor

i have no words for this monstrosity.

  6. Weird.

  7. looks like Zombies have reflections

  8. Isabel

    HELL NO.

  9. Faith S.

OMG, my wedding photo turned out so gorgeous….said NO ONE EVER!!!!!

  10. Heather

The baby in her profile pic really shows me that she has mastered the art of newborns too…

In the photographers defense, I have been asked to do just this type of photo as well. While I hate this type of processing I must say that if the customer asks for this you have no choice but to give them what they want.

On the processing itself, it’s horrible. This person should have had help with this.

    • You do have the choice to politely decline. You don’t have to “give them what they want” because YOUR name is going to be attached to it. I simply don’t showcase anything like this and in turn, I don’t get requests for it either. And yes, I have declined work in the past. We are supposedly the experts, not effect churning “well the customer wanted it” hacks.

    • FalconGTHO

Yep, as I have said. But the peanut gallery on here says youre not supposed to put those in your portfolio. However, if its a result of customer requests then its likely NEW customers would have the same or SIMILAR requests so having them in your portfolio would indicate to potential customers that yes, you DO do those types of jobs.

My thing is that all these blowhards on here need to belly up with the links to THEIR work. While the commentary on here is funny, I want to see just how skilled THEY are to be passing such matter of fact, “authoritarian” judgement on this junk posted on here. To me, basically, if youre not a high line pro with the work to show and prove it, you ought to just STFU.

      • ithurtswhenipee

^^^ Says the person with no link to their work. Hypocrite. Google it.

      • Miralys

You don’t have to be an artist to appreciate art. Nor to recognise a poor job. Same goes for music: You don’t have to play an instrument to be able to hear a false note. Same goes for photography.
I don’t call myself a photographer nor do I make money taking pictures – still I know that my pictures are way better than the ones posted on this site.

      • FalconGTHO

Im not a pro. But there sure are a lot of blowharsds on here who want to convince others they are. So stick it.

      • Falcon, if you’re not a pro, how can you claim you’re qualified to judge other pro’s work?

The point is, you don’t need to prove you’re a pro photographer for your comments on shitty work to be valid, any more than you need to prove you’re a pro gambler for your straight flush to beat a full house.

Shitty photography and editing pretty much speaks for itself. You being an apologist for bad work has much less meaning as a self-admitted non-pro, so why would anyone care that you think pros should post their work? For what, you as a non-pro to pass judgement? There’s simply no reason to post it as any sort of “proof”.

    • Phydoux, You are right. The commentary is chuck FULL of fauxs. Sometimes I entertain myself by looking some up, when it’s possible (all it takes is just a few clicks if a name is provided, or I follow a name on the YANAP FB comments). In fact in the beginning (and maybe still to this day) YANAP actually found some of their features just by looking at the comments and checking people out (or maybe from other commentators “turning them in”). I think what they don’t realize is that even though they have their FB set to private, their “business” isn’t private, that would be why they put their business up on the web to begin with, so people could find them. With all that said, I also agree with Miralys. Of course this doesn’t apply to their own “art” or “work” most times, as they seem to live in some sort of delusion, and can’t see that they are behaving and producing work that they make fun of regularly. They themselves are pretending to be a professional photographer just like the YANAP feature they felt compelled to comment on. Are they pretending so hard that they start to believe it? I’m not sure how it happens, it’s a strange phenomenon. I know my portraiture isn’t up to par, and that would be why I am not a photographer for hire, but just because I can’t yet produce professional quality portraiture or event photography, doesn’t mean that I don’t know what goes into a good photograph and can’t recognize poor substandard work vs, good quality photography. Having the knowledge of how to photograph properly, and what goes into a good photograph, is completely different than having the ability and skill to implement what you know. If people would just start realize this…sigh….

      • oops my earlier comment was supposed to be directed to FalconGTHO, sorry about that

  12. BurninBiomass

My brain just isn’t processing something right. Maybe its the angle of her mirror, but none of the perspectives look right (even without the hands in the background). It almost doesn’t seem like she should be reflected back at that angle. I dont think the lady or her reflection was Photoshopped in (the reflection has the bevel of the bottom of the mirror, and the image in the foreground has fine hair against the wall and frame), but the angle just doesn’t look right. It seems like I’m seeing the side of her head in the foreground, when from the reflection I should be looking at the back of her head. Or she should be further over in the foreground. I don’t know, but something looks askew.

Its an odd shaped mirror, and that doesn’t help.

Sorry, I’m rambling because this hurts my head (even before I get to the hands or spot coloring).

  13. I can hear the blushing bride now…

    “I do …….. want my money back…”

  14. For the love of all that is good and holy…just…NO!

  15. Angela

    Is she dead?

  16. Pelham

Notice how the bride’s flowers are in colour but not in the reflection? Gotta get me one of them magickal desat mirrors!!

As for people posting or not posting links to their professional portfolios, why should we? What’s that got to with the price of tea in China? I don’t shoot engagements, weddings, grad portraits, newborns or maternity – or commit horrendous PS crimes – so honestly see no reason why anyone here would be interested in it.

  17. The baby in the mirror looks like the same baby with the awful black bow in the ‘what a lil angel post’

  18. That frame looks like some sort of Mobius strip.

  19. This is one of those where all I can say is “Why?”.

    WHY, Fauxtog, WHY?

  20. For some reason this looks like she is looking at the mirror, reminiscing about her wedding and the awful events that transpired after….

  21. Whiskey. Tango. Foxtrot. Not only does this photo deserve to be on here, it should be submitted to “Awkward Family Photos.”

  22. An inspired blend of bad photography and even worse Photoshop …

  23. I’m strangely distracted by the edge on the mirror, like writing…but all in all, I don’t get this. I don’t get any part of this.

  24. What.

    The.

    Fuck.

  25. someone

I think the person who took the screenshot (look at the avitar where it says “Write a comment”) is the bride. Maybe she’s not happy with the photo.

  26. what is that hair selection? oh my goodness… it’s called refine mask, use it!

  27. Why on earth do friends and family encourage this crap? If someone is taking really bad photos, and doing hideous stuff to them in hopes of making an “artsy” photo, why not tell them “Geez … that’s pooh! Quit doing that!”

    • Someone

They don’t know better! They probably actually LIKE IT. If people didn’t like this crap, there would be no market for them.

  28. justme

I imagine that this is the type of thing that runs through the minds of serial killers. All the time.

  29. Christi

If someone asked for that, do it, try it, you never know could be a winner, but you have to know about halfway through this edit, it aint workin. Maybe the photog was drunk in editing and thought it was good and didn’t look at what they did the night before. AS A RULE, if you Photoshop on alcohol, go through all your photos the next day before posting on Facebook
