Spot Coloring To The Max!

The sad part is, think about how long it probably took the fauxtog to do all this spot coloring. I bet the original image didn’t even look too bad.

  1. everything in color! just as long as its not the subject!

And they are a nice blueish tint for an extra special touch!

  3. Actually, if you go into Hue/saturation, then select each of the colors you want to REMOVE (as in this case: red/magenta) then it’s easy to remove ALL of the other colors except the ones you want to keep.

But, just because you CAN do this, doesn’t mean you SHOULD. ICK!

They probably didn’t spot color it, they just toned down the red/orange/magenta hues. Takes like 20 seconds.

  5. Oh it’s spot colored. I thought the subjects had shuffled off this mortal coil.

  6. Did they just take out all the red tones?

  7. Lol I love how they kept a little bit of colour in her hair. Well I don’t love it… I just.. ?

Aren’t they lucky their eyes are closed. They cant see this

  9. This fauxtog must have spent HOURS making an ordinary photo look awful. I’ve seen a couple of well done selective color shots but usually they are horrible – like this one.

I cringe the day I ever learned it – lol- it was awesome for about a week – now , it just makes my eyes burn =

  10. That is a simple use of the de-saturation sliders in photoshop. Probably took a minute at most…about the same length of photographic training this fauxtog has under his/her belt.

Lightroom makes this kind of atrocity simple to accomplish too – you can remove individual colors. But most people with any sense would simply not do so.

  12. I’m just loving that blue dominant on the white shirt and dress….NOT!
This fauxtog might take another minute to study colour management, too.

  13. ok that is soooo creepy.

  14. That guy.

    Is that Dave Chapelle?

  15. Daniel

    Sigh!!! =(

Bwahaha! Spot coloring…you’re doing it wrong!

  17. Colour me badd!

  18. A death inspired spot colour image? The fact that the main subjects are lacking colour is very reminiscent of the shots people use to take of corpses shortly after death.

  19. The wonky shelves bother me the most. Meh!

  20. I just…wow…I got nothing. Why would someone even DO such a thing?

  21. Wsroadrunner

    Again… why?

  22. While I agree that this is an awful example of “post processing,” I also feel that all of the “seasoned Pros” that have or will weigh in on this (and God knows how many others) terrible images should be using the proper terminology while doing so. Below are a few links that may be helpful. I’m quite confident that if it were a fauxtog continually using incorrect jargon, they would be burned at the stake and told to “study the craft” or “get an education.” My point here is not to defend garbage fauxtogs charging people for trash photos, but is that if you’re going to be an arrogant bastard (read: give specific and non-constructive criticism), know your shit.

  25. She looks like death warmed over.

    Just no

  27. Given that this is a shot from an interracial marriage, perhaps the selective color drop-out was a commentary on…color…and um, how important diversity is. And stuff.

Or maybe this is just crap.
