In all seriousness though, and in the spirit of constructive criticism.. First.. spot color makes me vomit. Second, what exactly what the photographer wanting to be the subject in this instance? You can’t photograph a huge tree, put a small baby underneath it and expect the baby to stand out. It just DOESN’T work that way.
Rock-a-bye-baby, on the TREE TOP when the wind blows the cradle will rock, when the bough breaks, the baby will FALL and down will come baby cradle and all. Now where’s that cradle?
OMG!!!…that is sooo funny…I didn’t even notice it at first horrid glance…. I was drawn to the sad and bad example of selective colouring on the other side of the photo……The baby is sad because she knew what kind of crap the feuxtographer was going to do with the picture!!
This is the dumbest picture I have ever seen. Right down to the illiteracy. Is this what it’s like when you have macular degeneration, ya think? I suppose we shouldn’t be so harsh, for all we know this “photgrapher” is blind. For their sake, let’s hope they are.
It’s my birthday, so I’ll say what I like, I’m with you on this one Siobhan. Fuckwit is the right word – in fact it seems to be a term you can apply to all the photographers we see here. If people will pay for this sort of shit, then I’ll become a professional as soon as I wake up this morning. š
OMG, the photographer couldn’t even spell PHOTOGRAPHER right in their logo!! And that’s super lazy spot color when you don’t take the time to select the baby, just grab a big blob of area around the baby.
Not that anything is particularly in focus, but the poor baby is more out-of-focus than the leaves/blossoms in the foreground.
But what I don’t get is WHY? The bit that is in colour suggests that the tree and ground beneath the tree are both covered in pretty pink blossoms that just match what Baby is wearing…so why desaturate what might have established a theme for the composition. This could have worked had it been focused better and composed a bit differently and without spot colour.
Kinda like saying a Spam sandwich would be better without all that Spam..or something.
I happen to know that this “photgrapher” specialized in “boudoir” pictures. Can you even IMAGINE how classy those gems were? I can just invidion a topless photo with only one areola with a blotch of color and the rest of the pic B&W.
Very nice post. I just stumbled upon your blog and wished to say that I’ve truly enjoyed browsing

OMG – both the photo and the comment. Google “photgraphy” – there are PAGES of it. Apparently, a common problem among fauxtogs . . . . . .

I appreciate this from a fine art standpoint, but I don’t think it necessarily works for a toddler session.
