mynameisRachelParticipant
So I’m fairly certain this is the fauxtog herself, so I don’t really know how that works, but the editing is top notch:
I may have linked to this one before, but I do it because it scares me every time:
I really hope she was a second shooter for this wedding:
At least the background is in focus?
mynameisRachelParticipantWell, I think I’ll start with the 50 since I am mostly looking to explore with a lens other than my kit lens (which is getting old and was never fabulous in the first place). I have a telephoto lens but I find that to be best for nature/wildlife shots, not portraits. I think that if I find I enjoy the 50, I would be willing to invest in something more expensive. The way I see it, I should start off with inexpensive (but hopefully not horrible) lenses and then work my way up the photography food chain, if there is such a thing. 🙂
mynameisRachelParticipantI think I might get the 50mm prime… It is the most realistic option for me now. Thanks! 🙂
mynameisRachelParticipantOh no… BabyCakes is the first Oregon fauxtog I’ve seen. Noo, I thought my state was safe haha

Outsider opinions? #9459mynameisRachelParticipantActually you just gave me a great idea for the light painting picture, so thank you (well, it could turn out horribly haha)! I think I’ll definitely use a light against my face for a moment during the exposure, it should look creepy/cool. I don’t know why I didn’t think of that before!

mynameisRachelParticipantWell you can’t buy talent, apparently.
mynameisRachelParticipantThanks for explaining it!
mynameisRachelParticipantMy sources were wrong! Or I seriously need to read better. I’m going to go back into researching before I open my mouth (or fingers?) 😛
mynameisRachelParticipantFrom what I see it’s no longer this girl’s pictures that make her a fauxtog, it’s her over-zealous editing and awful attitude.
I was previously empathetic of her since hey, I was there a few years ago! I didn’t know what I was doing and all I got was encouragement, and everyone deserves that, right? But this amount of protectiveness is mad. You need criticism to grow and improve! Willingly preventing improvement is just ridiculous, and so is all this weird drama surrounding her comments and prices….
This is why my photography is a private hobby! I would hate to charge people for something that I don’t think is up to par.
mynameisRachelParticipantWooow…. What a professional way to compose themselves and deal with criticism!
mynameisRachelParticipantI have chickens as pets and it always upsets me to see people using chicks as “props”, especially when they let young children (who are not exactly gentle) handling chicks. They are fragile (and really shouldn’t be handled a whole lot while so young, it’s not good for them) and I don’t even want to know what these people do with the chicks after they’re done being used. Now to cheer everyone (or just me) up, a picture of one of my hens being cute. http://www.flickr.com/photos/92660812@N03/8638375795/in/photostream/lightbox/
mynameisRachelParticipantYeah, I haven’t gone into using RAW yet… I need to wait until I have the right software or there’s no point. And the way I see it, I still have years to improve and get a job so I can actually afford things, so I’m pretty optimist for the future 🙂
mynameisRachelParticipantAw man, looks like the same entry-level DSLR I have… It’s really not a bad camera though, meaning, it almost takes talent to be that bad (it’s #11 of Canon cameras on Flickr if that means anything).
