Bill, I’d like to applaud you for noticing the “lack of passion” (hah) I have on the about page. I respect anyone out there trying to improve their craft, but sometimes I think everyone is reading the same “how-to” blogs and writing the same stuff.  Or maybe everyone does have a passion, and we’re all really inept at delivering that any other way- myself included!

Thanks for your helpful input. I am sensitive to not making the website too messy. I like streamlined. Simple. Easy. Clean. Basic is not necessarily where I want to end up, so will keep chugging away at it.

And yes, hair in the faces! Thanks for that. I actually like it in the 1st photo, but not in the 2nd.

Finally, I’m having no luck on turning off Auto-Play for the Gallery. If anyone out there has insight (Squarespace “ishimoto” template) I’d love help!

Thanks so much EyeDocPhotog– so great to find encouragement. I think you should totally do a “tips” on your site- great idea!

Hey thanks! Appreciate that you took the time to respond!

OK, so what I heard was “website- bare, minimum, really basic. First steps.” Got it. In a sense, that’s what I was going for with this first step.

Agree with the orange orb in the photo. Thanks for pointing out.

On the “tightly cropped” images. I sort of want to explore that, as I prefer out -of-synch- breaking-rule-of-thirds type photos. But hey, that’s neither here nor there! Point noted!

On the pecan and pinecone images. I specifically wanted to incorporate “nature” shots with the portraits BECAUSE I so heavily incorporate shots of nature in my shots of families. Does that make sense? I actually do take those kinds of images and include them with family portraits. Whether or not clients want that is basically where I think folks would or wouldn’t choose me as a photog. Anyway, think I should still keep them? I liked the colors, the “Feel” of nature…etc. I’m divided myself on them.

Poorly posed photo on About. Got it. Agreed. My husband snapped that of me really quickly so I could have a photo on the about me section. Will re-do and actually stand up straight. Side note: i need to work on that in general. hah!

One really helpful thing was you mentioning you didn’t like the “auto play” of the images. I agree. Website is with Square space. I don’t like how choppy it is. I can take it off auto.

    thanks again!
