The point, Joe, is that Jason is arrogant, rude, and considers everyone who is not him to be a fauxtog.  His stuff is OK – I’ve seen better, I’ve seen lots worse – but his work does not justify his attitude.  Hell, nothing could justify his attitude.

    OK, I’ll pony up a few . . . . . http://www.pentaxphotogallery.com/artists/jetpix  Have fun.

So, Jason – looks like you are outnumbered on the WB issue.  Quit being a jackass – then maybe someone will take you seriously.

Too warm?  Jason – have you calibrated your monitor lately?  Nothing there is too warm.  The colors are pretty good – if anything, I’d like to see a few of them pumped up a bit – but that is personal preference.  Overall, Id’ say they are pretty good . . . . . .

    Jason –

I disagree.  The mockery is the domaine of the web owners.  Rudeness is never correct in a forum such as this.  If you can’t be civil, don’t post.

For the photo linked (and several others on the maternity page) A little washed out for me.  I would drop the exposure comp -.03 to -.05 and/or saturate the colors a bit more . . . . .  With that big sky, you are backlit – the sky is washed out, but so is everything else.  It’s almost as though you overcomensated for the backlighting.

I have no problem with the space at the top.  It’s not necessary to fill every pixel with subject – perspective is just as important.  I would just like to see it pulled back a bit, and panned down to show a little more of the stuffed animals . . . . .

    Cute –

The yellowing does make it look a bit retro (and is softer and more acceptable in this shot) – like the little kid shots my dad took of me in the ’60;s.  Almost kodachromish . . . .   If you are going to have the stuffed animals in the shot, don’t cut off the head – either have it and show it, or get rid of it . . . . .

and, BTS, FYI, IMHO, if you are asking, then no, you are not a fauxtog.  Fauxtogs don’t ask – they don’t care.  They don’t want to know, or learn anything, or do anything decent . . . . . .

    Tryig to be constructive here . . . . .

    I see 4 things.

    1.  Colors.  Did you intend the yellow cast?  Gives baby a jaundiced look . . . .

    2.  Some of the highlights are a little blown out.

    3.  Can you clean up the drool on the chin?

    4.  The blade of grass cutting through baby’s face is a little distracting.

I otherwise like the composition –

    Hi –

I’ve been a professional for 30+ years, and am a former college photography instructor.  Switched to digital in 2010 – so still learning the nuances involved – but happy to help with any questions . . . . .
