Jenz, honey -_- Chell is not good. She’s not burn your eyes out bad, but not good either. This is for you: http://www.takeoffyourmommygoggles.com/   Read that article thoroughly. It’s important. This sets you up for the next assignment.

Now do one or both of two things ( woo bad grammar there, but I don’t feel well so meh): google Children photography, click images. Compare any of those to Chells. With the exception of 5 or so they are all brilliant. If for some reason that doesn’t work, here : http://confessionsofapropjunkie.com/  Prop junkie links and advertises tons and tons of small business photographers who are worlds above your friend.

Now, before you get all mad, do me a favor and actually look through what I gave you here. I’m not saying she should hang up her hat or whatever. I am saying she needs some help, and some honest people to help her out. Her black and whites are soo…. flat o.o You honestly don’t see just how they feel like a newspaper printing? eh.

I also can’t make active links -_- I hit add link like 12 times and it just sits there and mocks me o.o

LOL mrs Woo, this actually makes a little bit of sense. I for one can’t spell certain words for the life of me, even with the help of spell check there are a few that I butcher horribly that even spell check gives me a “wtf”. I’m reasonably well educated, I have a pretty decent vocabulary, Read on average 3 novels a week, but I just can’t spell “definitely” without some mad help. I before E gets me every time, and homonyms…. damn homonyms. Too, to, two, Hear and here, they get me all the time, even though I know the difference between them.

I think there may be a plateau for some people. I’m an artist ( as in pen/paint to paper) and I know i’ll never be Dali,  but I’m decent enough. Maybe it’s the same with some photographers, since there is A LOT of Artistic theory involved. Rule of thirds, composition, post production takes a certain amount o artistic creativity that maybe they’ve reached their max on. Some people learn to make really cool stick figures, but can’t move past it.

” I didn’t notice when I was shooting them, but when I opened them on the computer, I noticed”

This is something I still struggle with, but it’s something you REALLY need to work at. I know for me I always feel this unwarranted pressure to hurry up and get the shots, and that I shouldn’t take any extra time, like it’s unprofessional. I know this isn’t true in my head, and that if I took an extra five minutes the client won’t care ( generally) to get the right show, but I panic anyway. I’m working on slowing down and making my environment work for me.

Also actions are great, but you need to know that they are the start of the editing process, not the end all. It’s not a magic button to push and then be done, you have to tweek them. If your using lightroom presets ( actions) that’s near impossible, and i wouldn’t recommend it. Photoshop actions though are highly editable ( is that a word?) and a great starting point. I’m not sure in elements, but I think it works on the same layer system as Photoshop, also look up masking techniques in youtube. There are a ton of resources on youtube, utilize it!

Link sends me to my page, but it’s all wonky. Not sure if it’s my end or yours.

better! You can see her eye now without everything else going wonky. the clarity reduction may be a little to much at her temples for my taste, but she doens’t look plastic so eh. If you get really crafty feeling work on those stray hairs across her cheek 😉

the second makes her look like she has jaundice -_- Try using the presets under the adjustment brush there is one for iris’s in there that does a decent job

Stef I clicked it, adn it’s an actual blog. if that helps. It’s mostly a rant on a slightly inaccurate break down of yearly costs vs charging.

This picture was taken it looks like by another camera off of a monitor. And it does say ‘via Mobile’ so probably with a cell phone as well. That might explain some of what you are seeing camera clicker. I don’t think it was a composite, because like Lolkat said she’s been getting some harsh comments and still holding on to it. I dunno, people are really weird haha

Camera the photographer claims the mom brought in the glass jar and that this was not a composite, Quoted from the photographer in the comments:

Jackie Romine Photography Lol, I figured that out after I was like compsite? Ha Like I’ve said before I don’t use photoshop. Would love to learn, but I honestly don’t have a big use for it. And Jason truth be told I Loved the idea that she brought with her and it wasn’t a cheap flimsy container. It wasnt like we left her in there with out having both her mom and aunt and grandma 2 inches away from her for the whole minute that she was in it.

So yea, not a composite unless she’s lieing in the wrong direction.

I dunno, the idea is there, it’s sort of a memorial for the kids in that shooting. It doesn’t look like she’s saying “do all your shooting for freeeee” but that’s she’s asking you to hold your own event, where current clients nominate one family who otherwise couldn’t afford pictures. I do think she’s doing this weirdly, because why you need a whole list of participators, is beyond me. The Idea is there, her execution is just terrible and not really useful.

I thought the lion was terrible too, but it’s actually the thumbnail making it look horrible. In the Actual shot the lion is quite small, and is why it seems so bad in the blown up thumbnail. I just happened to click it to make sure 😀

First I haven’t gone farther then the initial page, but is it weird that the slanted image here doesn’t bother me much. I may be skewed because I read Cameraclickers comment on up hill battle. but I think it only works because of the angle of the people. They have a forward tilt that actually makes it feel a bit uphill.

okay looked through the rest, and I have seen much worse. I’m sure people aren’t upset at their pictures from this person. That being said I’m more annoyed at their gallery names. There’s more family pics in life pics then in family, and more wedding in pictures then in wedding. It’s strange.

I’m a military wife, and we’re in Alaska, which is considered an overseas tour. There are at least 30 on base “photographers”. It’s terrible. Some are okay, one or two are good, most are bad. The problem is they have no concept of the cost, the time ( for education) and the work it entails. I tried talking to one photographer about why she shouldn’t be charging when she’s using a 100 dollar point and shoot, and even found her a pretty good deal on a D3000, ( I think it was under 300 dollars with lenses) but she said  she was short on money and needed to buy props first. Now I know gear isn’t everything, but appropriate gear is still important. It just floored me. I’ll never get half assing things
