I’d like you all to meet lazy.
And we won’t even get into the 322345324243 other problems with this photo…LaurynParticipantThis guy just gets better and better…

That just might be the best comment I’ve ever heard.
Here are a few of my favourites for your viewing pleasure/pain:
https://www.facebook.com/MatchlessPC/photos_stream – There’s a couple good ones, but the rest are utterly horrific.
https://www.facebook.com/KBS.Photography.Colorado/photos_stream – Apparently they do concerts… Sorta…
Finally, here’s a couple pictures (prepare yourself…)
https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/11871_330434847083139_1819938323_n.jpg – I don’t have words for this.https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn1/164649_330427697083854_1097289029_n.jpg -Because that gives the right impression. It’s attractive too.
LaurynParticipantHello fellow Coloradan!
I have the same issues, as you might guess. I usually either expose twice- one for sky and one for ground- or drop in a tonne of masks and adjustment filters in PS.
Also, in the mountains, it normally works well to just expose for the average, and adjust it later- the light isn’t normally as bad there, even at midday.LaurynParticipantJust saying: I hate your name. Names like that set off warning bells.
You’re not a fauxtographer, for sure, but you’re not at pro level yet either. Just keep on working and developing your eye, and you’ll continue to get better.LaurynParticipantI can’t see the first picture, so we’ll skip that.
The second picture: anyone standing there could snap that, and there’s some photobombs along the edges. It is rather terrible (Sorry.)The third picture shows promise, but the focus is soft on the girl’s face.
I’m going to be brutally honest, so prepare yourself. Prepared? Okay then, on we go.
Right now, a new camera won’t help. In fact, some amazing pictures have been taken with point-and-shoots, or even worse (Google “Pro Tog, Cheap Camera”, and be amazed). Only going out and shooting will. Go and practice, and your pictures will get far better. You do show a developing eye, but you’ve got to get out there and develop it some more.
Here, to start, have one of my favourite blog posts in ever:
http://improvephotography.com/1415/21-things-you-can-do-today-to-change-your-photography-forever/LaurynParticipantSelective colouring, when used right, could work well. However…
It honestly just looks sloppy most of the time, like those atrocious book covers from the 90’s. 99% of the selective colouring I see would be better as just black and white, or, if you really love the colour, coloured.
I do agree that there is a very, very small percentage of pictures that actually look good with selective colouring, though.(Also, the first like with 4 pictures- the one on the top right makes the boy look sickly, and could’ve been coloured much more effectively.)
LaurynParticipantThe girl in the purple dress is overexposed
The hockey picture is underexposed
And the focus is soft on the face of the little girl in the snow (But it isn’t too bad, so it’s excusable)
LaurynParticipantHonestly, you have quite a ways to go.
Since you aren’t selling or claiming to be a pro, you cannot be a fauxtographer, however, if you marketed that work as pro work, I would have to say that you are something approaching a fauxtographer.
Photoshop and background control would really improve your photos- just keep working on it! 🙂LaurynParticipantIt’s not the best picture, but here is my bird, Tweety.
