CoastalTog nailed that right on the head.

everyone always get so defensive when the honesty isn’t what they want to hear. I feel like i don’t want to comment on any one of these CC’s unless they say they want brutal and honest advice.

Your photos are pretty, if that’s what you’re going for. the pretty Aryan children do look like the Von Traps. You’ve got exposure color temp issues here:

And here (including the individual images, but since you put them all together the problems are more apparent):

When you go for a specific look for an image, you should probably keep it consistent in the set of images you are doing for a client. It doesn’t make any sense to give them different treatments. And even if it did, there isn’t even consistency between two of them. The same is true for the little dark haired girl.

    She’s green:

http://www.pinterest.com/pin/329818372682250539/ – Also i don’t think she’d like you showing that hairy arm.

The eyes in these two are horrible:

    http://www.pinterest.com/pin/329818372682031957/

For some reason, some people think the eyes need more pop. They usually don’t and if they do, it’s something that should be handled mostly in camera.

So when you do something like that in photoshop, make sure you do it on it’s own adjustment layer. do it to what you think looks good, then pull back the opacity about 90%, then it will probably look good.

This is probably your best one, but could use a little more color –

All in all, not horrible but it seems that when you aren’t going for a specific style or look, skin tones go a little pinkish, which IMO is not good. Warmer is typically better.

uh, i think maybe you just need to invest in a pair of glasses and an eye exam. Focus is certainly one of the more annoying hurdles in photography but its something that everyone has to deal with. in the film days i would shoot with a Pentax 6 x 7 and the viewfinder was huge and vibrant. focusing was always super simple. I think when autofocus came on the DSLR’s, the importance of a quality viewfinder/ground glass dwindled. I autofocus most times. When I shoot studio stuff, i typically manual focus as i’m often trying to bridge focus a bit.

Boring crap, just like all the rest of it.

sorry, the only constructive criticism I can muster is “find a new career”. You don’t really care for constructive criticism anyways you just want praise. you aren’t getting it so maybe it’s time to move on.

re: internet explorer. There is a running joke about internet explorer that goes like this:

How to hide your porn files from people without making Hidden folders

    1. Go to Desktop and create a new folder

    2. Name the folder Internet Explorer

    3. Change the folder icon to Internet Explorer

    4. Keep it in a corner of the desktop.

No one will ever open internet explorer…

that said, I find color differences from computer to computer. And i don’t care about PC’s and internet explore b/c my demographic are ALL using macs. I try not to make a big deal about it. You have no idea what your files are going to look like to someone using an old monitor with bad color to begin with. It’s futile to try to control that. However, by using sRgb color space you can eliminate a lot of headache…as everyone else has said above.

first impression is that you over edit. second impression is that it’s not that great. too much camera tilt stuff (too much to me means doing it at all). poses look staged, forced and stiff).

i think some people on here are too quick to pull down images after they get a bad reaction. Sometimes its just best to sleep on the ideas before making a rash decision. Your work is ok. The theater stuff serves a purpose and you do a lot of work. I’d consider having a separate place for that stuff…for those clients…it doesn’t do anything for the other work. Kind of like if i wanted to be a wedding photographer on the side, but still wanted to be considered a more serious photographer. The portraits are ok. lots of color issues. The light isn’t great all around. I don’t know why you call personal, personal. There isn’t really anything personal about it. Your food stuff looks nice…and i shoot food, so i think that’s saying something…

    Zuzanas,

You are absolutely wrong. You are not only a photographer, but you are incredibly talented. Unfortunately, the presentation greatly diminishes your work. You need to reorganize your work into more meaningful stories and show far bigger images than you currently have. I’d also like to see your work on a lighter background. Your drill down navigation is quite cumbersome and needs revamping. You could be making some good money as a photographer…

ugh, why do so many fauxtogs use the whole “I’ve got a sick relative” defense to try to gain sympathy for their own shortcomings? I find it so annoying.

you shot straight on back in the day and now you tilt? I call it the college tilt. It’s what college art students do to make their shots interesting. It doesn’t work and is a big faux mistake. Shoot straight.
