I'm a newspaper editor, reporter and when I have to be newspaper photographer. The last one is not my forte. I do not claim to be a photographer or would ever dream of calling myself one or *gasp* charging. If my photographer isn't available or there's a last minute or breaking news event, I grab my rather outdated Nikon and head out the door. Considering I am aware of my own talents, I have a keen eye for those who are confused by their own. I definitely can spot a good vs. poor photograph. It's my job. I know what a good photo is suppose to look like and I can always tell if it has been edited, overexposed, saturated, or photoshopped to try to improve the image. I don't accept those photos. The only thing that is allowed is to crop to fit the page or to photoshop the asshole kid who stuck up his middle finger.
