Does anyone have any recommendations for sites to upload photos where clients can view them?  I have been researching several:  Zenfolio, Smugmug,  Photo Shelter, Photo Biz and Printroom.  Has anyone used these or others that you would care to recommend?

If you are shooting portraits, weddings or something similar, then http://www.yournamehere.com, or something similar.  As a business you can deduct the cost of building and hosting your web page from taxable income and you get the benefit of being able to pick a name that suits you.  Also, you are not sending your customers to a site that is displaying other people’s work or possibly displaying advertising.   My page is hosted by NetFirms but there are lots of options, some let you build a page from a template and others let you build from scratch.  What you want the page to look like and how comfortable you are writing a page or having someone else write a page for you, compared to just dropping your photos at a prebuilt page will determine some of your options.

If you want to sell directly from the site, and want someone else to look after printing and collection, a page like http://fineartamerica.com/ might be appropriate.

My website was made with zenfolio. It takes time to customize and get all the seo right but I love zenfolio for the client gallery features. Sarahashleyphotos.com is my website if you want to take a look.
Cameraclicker your idea is ok but I think it looks unprofessional to redirect to another website. With zenfolio they have a blog & selling features and if you set it up right it will say yourdomain.com all the way through the site.

Sarah,  I was not suggesting redirection.  Fine Art America lets you customize your page so it looks like your page instead of theirs, and I think they are one of the ones that let you use your own URL instead of having to use theirs.  There are several sites offering that.

http://www.sarahashleyphotos.com/ uses flash, which I am told does not work properly with phones and tablets.

Sarah,  I just tried your site from my phone which is Android, and it works fine.  They must detect that it is a phone and use something else to display the photos.

cameraclicker, Flash doesn’t work on iPhones, but from what I know, Android supports Flash.

Yep & with iphones and ipads it switches over to something else and the slideshow still works.

I also use Zenfolio and really like it.  They are linked with the printing company I use here in Australia so it works well with being able to order prints online.  My page is at http://www.nightrosephoto.com.au
