Winning Photography’s owner’s Facebook profile screen name is “Rapeingducks.” Did anyone else notice that? Weird. And not something that comes off in any way professional!
No photographer should really have to boast about the number of years they’ve been doing it. Their work should show skill.
February 11, 2013 at 9:47 pm #6437MendParticipanti had noticed that. there’s a few “photography” pictures on her personal profile that isn’t on there and the editing is horrible and she’s all loving it.

February 12, 2013 at 12:12 pm #6482NikonGalParticipantOk guys, I got one. I actually submitted this guy a while back, but I figured I’d post here so you all can see for yourselves. Presents himself as a professional, but I’m not sure if he charges or not. He works with a local production company (bands and events, etc), so I’m assuming he does charge. I’m not sure what irritates me more, his delusions of being a pro or the fact that the general public seem to think his photos are amazing….Without further adieu….

(Totally flattering, don’t you think?)https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=455791921110177&set=a.454769374545765.96176.238464369509601&type=3&theater
(I think he actually PhotoShopped a fence on top of a fence…)Oh yea, and he shoots with this:
http://www.amazon.com/Sony-MVCCD500-Mavica-Digital-Optical/dp/B00008O37PI only know because I saw a photo of him shooting once and I HAD to look up what the heck he was using.
February 12, 2013 at 1:36 pm #6492sethParticipantThis makes me shudder.
And this:
What is the point?? Actually, I think she’s trying to copy another photographer in her town that seems to dominate the industry there… only she’s not any good either.
It’s just a pity that all of these fauxs run around ruining it for everyone. I don’t understand why so many fakes get so many likes and comments on their crap but perfectly good photographers get ignored. I feel sorry for most of the subjects pictured in this thread! I have a friend that’s stuck in the middle – I think she’s pretty good, not stellar, but good, yet she loses business to hacks. And what’s really stupid is she’s had people come to her after the fact because they had a shoot with the main fauxtog in town and said they couldn’t afford the prints! And the pics aren’t really good to begin with, maybe 1 out of every 20. But people seem to either want the cheapest they can get and don’t value the work of the photographer or they think that by finding the most expensive one it’s some kind of status symbol.
February 12, 2013 at 3:38 pm #6501FauxFightersParticipantOk, I have been lurking on YANAP for a while, and even submitted a couple of shots, which have never gotten posted. So I will share them here instead. My first submission is Minnie’s Photography!

Another ‘natural light’ photographer, but the one of the baby looks like it used flash – somehow part of the flash was BLOCKED, but it looks like they at least attempted to use it (rather badly). SMH
If you’re going to do the ‘natural light’ thing at least buy and learn to use a couple of cheap reflectors?
February 12, 2013 at 3:57 pm #6505hahaParticipantHere are some images of Local fauxtogs! LOL… SOMEONE PLEASE TELL THEM THEY SHOULD NOT BE CHARGING FOR SESSIONS… haha
February 12, 2013 at 4:41 pm #6511PhotographyNerdParticipantThese people keep getting worse and worse.
The lighting is SO poor, the whole set up is BEYOND tacky. Where do they find these people to pay for their services?! Trailer parks!?
And who ever is in charge of THIS site: https://www.facebook.com/pages/You-Call-Yourself-a-Photographer/345145922267273
I noticed that you are making fun of this picture:
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151417656938415&set=a.10151415382848415.508985.111692463414&type=1&theater .You need to start pointing out WHY that image is so bad. Like the LIGHTING and the quality of the image as a WHOLE. Yeah, the fake rose is pretty bad, but you can see that they Photoshopped something on her shoulder, because the tacky blue tarp is blending into her shirt. lol Its AWFUL. SOMEONE please TELL THEM! It’s not just the fake rose, or the fact that her model looks like a lesbian with a GUMMY smile, its EVERYTHING about the image! Those people need to be exposed for what they are: FAUXTOGS!
February 12, 2013 at 5:12 pm #6514PhotographyNerdParticipantNice shot of the family checking out mom’s cleavage. Jesus.

If you can’t take criticism, don’t go in the business!

Stumbled upon this while looking for a friend’s baby photos.
February 13, 2013 at 1:42 am #6546fstopper89ParticipantThere’s a page that just was started this weekend on Facebook. They’re posting pretty much all the images linked in this forum. Already tons of backlash from clients and the photographers whose images are shared there. They have some good points, but the problem is the page admins say they’re not even photographers and therefore aren’t offering constructive criticism on anything. Most of the images go without the necessity of constructive criticism, but then they have a handful of decent images that they’ve picked apart for poor reasons. There was apparently one quite good photographer whose image of a newborn with birthmarks/skin defects was being bashed for not photoshopping out the marks, and she defended herself by saying the mother didn’t WANT them photoshopped out because it was just how her baby looked naturally! I checked out her page and she’s a well-known pro with over a thousand likes and is a member of the PPA and does free work for the Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep campaign (photos of stillborns or sick infants etc.) and has some excellent work. So it’s one thing to point out the really ridiculous so-called photography but another to take an opinion of a photograph and knock the photographer for something the other poster knows nothing about.
Here’s the site. https://www.facebook.com/pages/You-Call-Yourself-a-Photographer/345145922267273
So, which one of you guys here made this page?
