4-H is a service-oriented youth organization made up of several clubs within the county 4-H governing them. It started mostly in rural farming areas but now is in many large towns and cities. I did not grow up on a farm but came from a somewhat rural area. Each year, members sign up for projects they wang to learn about and attend meetings led by adult leaders. Every summer most counties have a fair in which members exhibit their projects, including farm animals, and are judged and awarded ribbons. the H’s stand for head, heart, hands, and health. It provides many opportunities for kids to learn leadership and teamwork.
