I was pretty brief when I was looking at these, and only have a few minutes now as well. I would like to add that I like the photos the links point to.
Regarding the sunset on water, if a flash was used or perhaps fill added in Photoshop, the trees’ detail would become apparent. That might enhance the photo. On the other hand, sometimes there is a mess of some sort which would detract from the photo if it were visible and an easy way to hide it would be to put it into dark silhouette as the trees are. Without seeing it both ways, which is truly preferable is unknown. The JPEG has no detail in the trees. If there is a raw file, Jez could apply some fill to see the difference. The photo does have a calm at the end of the day feel to it, which I like.
