I have no problem with nudity, but that is just a bad picture not matter what they would be wearing or not wearing.

Photo is bad for one big reason: This is blackmail material for the kid. Being posted, it will get out, and the kid will be harassed. Expect a xerox copy on every school bulletin board where this kid goes to school, every morning.

However, anyone saying “call CPS” can go fuck yourselves.

Why?? This is wrong on soooooo many levels!!! If they were going for scarring the child for life… mission accomplished!! Love how they made it B&W, guess they thought it would add a bit of class to such an un-classy photo!!

It’s not a bad picture. We don’t know the context of this shot. It needs a caption or story.

Maybe they are part of a nudist colony. Who knows.

it’s a nice BW conversion. the pose is definitely awkward, and it’s cropped badly, but no way is this CPS worthy or “sick”. good grief.

Why? It goes against what is normal and accepted for our culture. Just because other places have a different culture doesn’t mean that ours is invalid.

The idea might have worked – for an intimate family shot – if the child were younger. But this kid looks just a tad too old to me for this. Do you think anyone would display a photo like this in their own home?

I think posed better and shot better, by a better photographer, this could have been a beautiful concept, with an infant instead of one this age. This one is awkward with all of the disappearing limbs (which is ehhh with the people being nude), the dad looking like he has died, and the child looking so miserable.

they look european to me. and i dont think it would be odd at all if this was from Europe.

If the child were a baby…a tiny, little, newborn baby, then maybe, just maybe.

I personally think that 1. the pose is awkward. Where is his hand? I shouldn’t have to ask that and wonder about that. perhaps if the pose was better, it wouldn’t be SO awkward. & 2. i think that this child is MUCH TOO OLD. Then again, we don’t see the whole body, so whose to say the mom & dad aren’t covered up below? if so, its not “CPS” worthy as a lot of children that age still shower with their parents.

I think a better photographer could of made this a better shot and not so questionable and awkward.

I actually don’t mind the mother/son part of the photo. I get what concept they were going for, and it almost works with those two. It’s almost a nice, intimate shot between a mother and her child.

But then my eyes go up to the great, big, dead-looking father just…splayed on top of them, and I laugh out loud.

Uhm, I’m European, having been raised in a very untraditional family (not hippies but very liberal minded) and I find this creepy and bad!

Only change tI’d make is to crop it in a bit closer, leave a little mystery. Other than that.. really? It’s NOT a bad photograph.

    Chill out guys.
This is not a bad picture. Pose is wrong, and the kid is a little old.
But other than that it’s good. And i do mean good.
In focus, nice B/W work., lighting is good.
I just would have not put it online as it’s a personal family shot.

Big plus 1 Kevin – not a bad shot, is the kid a little old for this – maybe, but that’s not my call or problem. Parents are there with him… In focus, nice conversion – assuming they didn’t shoot film and scan. Would I post this as an example? probably not, because I don’t want nut jobs coming after me. Would I shoot this if asked? As long as I get a release from the family saying that they want it and agree not to hold me liable or responsible – yep. Oh and positive id from the couple and the kid – showing that they are indeed legal guardians, etc…

There are many more aspects to a good photo other than technical ones.
This photo is just wrong in every other way.

  27. From a technical aspect, it’s not horrible. Exposed well and in focus. But, the child just seems too old for this. If it were a newborn it would be a nice intimate shot, but either way it does NOT belong displayed publicly. I would hope the client approved of it going online. The boy also does look very uneasy.

I suppose it’s not outside the realm of possibility that the family might be perfectly comfortable and okay with their nudeness, but had I taken the picture I’d likely not post it publicly because of the child’s age. IIRC there is a certain age limitation on pictures of naked children at which point it stops being a cute bare-bottomed baby and becomes child exploitation.

Also, it’s not that bad a photo, except the positioning of Dad is just too bizarre.

For me this one is difficult to assess. As an artistic piece it is quite interesting, well lit and composed. The main issue I have with this image is that it seems forced and the implications of it are somewhat disturbing. If the photographer was trying to create an image that disturbs, then they have pulled it off successfully.

This is not a photo to publish – it’s a very intimate family pic. Keep it in the album. But I don’t think it’s ‘wrong’. Just a bit odd. And they all look uncomfortable to me.

It’s technically a nice photograph; they just look awkward and I wouldn’t post it in my portfolio.

I like the picture. Great focus, love the black and white. I dont think the boy is as old as you guys think, he looks hefty which makes it seem much worse. I think the expression of the boy isn’t right and because they were trying to cover all of the personal parts and still show the intimacy of the bareness made them come up with a very awkward position. I think there is a lot of over reacting over this. Its not like they are having sex…good grief.. you can tell they are being intimate as a family. Dirty minds… and no, I wouldn’t share this with the world…its intimate and not for strangers and sickos to check out.
